    Job Type Part-time Description We are looking for additional crew members at our Freedom Boat Club Portland location at Fore Points Marina. Our season runs from May 1st through October 15th, 2026. Do you love working outside? Do you love the water? Do you love boating? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who love boats and being around the water to join the team at Freedom Boat Club, Portland location at Fore Points Marina in downtown Portland at 58 Fore Street. Our season begins May 15th and ends October 15th. We offer a flexible schedule and a fun work environment. You will assist members with boat reservations, prepare and clean boats for outings, ensure safety on the docks, and work with our Dockmaster to provide an outstanding boating experience for our members and their guests. Freedom Boat Club is the nation's oldest and largest private member boat club, and we are looking for friendly and upbeat individuals to greet members and work on the docks. This position is seasonal, from May 15th through October 15th, part-time, and requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Position Details Job Title: Dockhand Job Status : Part-time, seasonal (our season extends to October 15, 2026) Department: Operations Department Supervisor : Freedom Boat Club (FBC) Operations Manager Pay Type : $16-$20 per hour based on experience and performance. FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Requirements The Dockhand is responsible for properly maintaining all FBC vessels to the highest standards. Responsible for ensuring the safety of those using the boats, prolonging the useful life of the boats, and protecting the clubs' significant investments. Major Duties and Responsibilities Greet customers in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner. Assist customers with boarding / un-boarding boats with an emphasis on safety. Assist with docking and fueling boats. Clean and sanitize boats and stage equipment for the next outings. Inspect boats for safety, equipment checks, tie-up, and proper slip location. Ensure docks are clean and presentable. Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity. Must love working around the water and providing impeccable customer service. Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality Work with the Dockmaster to ensure quality standards for customer service are met. Perform daily clerical work to prepare the reservation log, fuel log, and weather reports. Familiarize yourself with local waters to provide basic chart guidance to customers. Skills Read Less

    Dock Staff To complete the day-to-day tasking at assigned Freedom Boat Club locations. To ensure complete member satisfaction through staff attitude, professionalism, and work quality excellence. To provide Red Carpet Service to all FBC members. To be a strong team player and able to work hard during fast paced conditions. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Clean and sanitize every boat, every compartment, after every use Open and close the club ensuring everything is accounted for and secured Wipe down condensation every morning while completing morning operations checks Conduct morning maintenance app inspections during the 1 hour before reservations Comfortable moving boats around the slips and to the fuel dock Completely check members in and out properly Recover fuel fees from members Use of different tech to view reservations, make confirmation calls, and get members on boats from the waitlist Check daily usage at the end of the day to ensure no fuel was missed and all boats checked in correctly Report damage and fill out incident reports when required Complete weekly deep cleaning and inspections Change props and minor mechanical issues as needed Additional tasks as designated by supervisors Always put safety first Requirements: Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy NASBLA boating safety course, can be completed during onboarding process Able to work on your feet and work in all weather conditions Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven Must be able to lift 30lbs and bend to get in to hard-to-reach places Be able to lead by example and be a complete team player Devotion to learning product knowledge Knowledge of small boat operations preferred by not required Have a strong attention to details Applicants must be at least 17 years of age Working weekends and holidays are requirements and expected Compensation: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour Freedom Boat Club of Greater Boston Read Less
