    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Collect, label, and prepare patient specimens (e.g. blood, urine, tissue) for testing Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, tissue, etc. to determine presence of normal or abnormal componentsFollow the laboratory procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and reportingAnalyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or immediately notify the Laboratory Director.Establish or monitor quality assurance programs or activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results Record and report test results clearly and accurately in the hospital’s electronic health record systemMaintain records that demonstrate the proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.Adhere to the laboratory quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting issues as neededFollow established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic supportMaintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, HIPAA, etc.)Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with hospital and regulatory standardsMaintain the integrity and confidentiality of patient information through all laboratory processesAll other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:     Must possess an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Must be licensed in the State of Louisiana.

    Work Experience:     Prior experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is preferred.

     ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Completes administrative tasks regarding surgeries including, but not limited to, scheduling patient appointments and surgeries, scheduling follow-up appointments, providing patients with appointment reminders, etc. Maintain excellent communication with surgery patients, including returning phone calls promptly.Acts as a liaison between the patients and the Physician and/or Surgeon. Ensure that all surgical cases are scheduled in a timely manner in accordance with the Physician or Surgeon’s directions.Ensuring adequate preparation for surgeries by scheduling the necessary equipment and procedure rooms with the Surgery Department. Understands applicable surgery procedures, such as the necessary time a surgery takes and the medical staff necessary, to properly maintain a surgical schedule.Responsible for continually monitoring the surgery schedule looking for inefficiencies. Manages surgical documents, gathering and inputting patients’ information, and entering post-surgery data into patients’ records.Assist patients with their documents and sign-in procedures.Maintains patient information and ensures that all patient information (Ex. demographics, contact information, health history, etc.) is updated in the patient’s chart.Ensures that all required documentation has been collected and processed prior to the surgery. Review the patient’s insurance eligibility and determine if a referral or prior authorization for surgery is required.  Conducts prior authorization screening as directed by the patient’s health plan.     QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:Highschool Diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate of an accredited Nursing, Certified Medical Assistant, Paramedicine, or similar program is preferred. Certification: CPR Certification for Health Care Providers
    Work Experience:Experience working within a surgical practice environment including but not limited to Orthopedic and General Surgery, preferred.

Assists in x-ray, working under direct supervision of Radiologist.  Maintains record of x-rays taken.  Performs related duties.
    JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
                Responsible to:  Radiology Director
                Regular Contact with:  All Hospital departments, Physicians, and the public.
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    Prepares patient for radiology examination, or fluoroscopy as requested by physician.  Determines most suitable anatomical posture to radiograph-affected area of body, and positions patient so that area to be examined is between anode of x-ray tube and film.  Considers possibility of aggravation of injury and distortion of organs due to position assumed by patient.  Sets up angle board to provide supportive surfaces for patient in sinus, mastoid, and lateral mandible radiography.   Assists patient to remove all radiopaque article of clothing or jewelry that are near site for study.  Administers chemical mixture or drugs, orally or as enemas, to render organs more opaque.  Adjusts immobilization devices, such as sand bags, binders, and special brackets, to prevent voluntary motion on part of patient.
    Sets up and operates stationary and mobile x-ray equipment.  Wheels mobile equipment to patient’s bedside as required.  Centers x-ray tube at proper angle and height over area to be radiographed.  Adjusts collimator to produce smallest x-ray beam that will cover anatomical area under consideration. Sets kilovolts, milliamperes, and exposure time to produce image of proper detail, density, contrast, and lack of distortion.  Places cassette of proper size in position, and captions it with identifying lead letters.  Turns on machine.  Makes necessary radiographs.
    Prepares and maintains records. Identifies and saves images to PACS server for permanent archive and future reference. Forwards x-rays and physicians' diagnosis to interested hospital departments. Prepares and maintains records of all x-rays according to individual patient's name and physician’s diagnosis. Maintains cross-files. Schedules appointments and develops work schedules in absence of clerical assistants.
    Performs related duties. Assist in making fluoroscopic examinations by preparing barium sulfate solutions and administering them to patients as prescribed by a physician. Also assists in fluoroscopy of heart, chest, bones, etc., by preparing and positioning patient; adjusting controls; and watching exposure factors closely. Maintains x-ray equipment in efficient operating condition; notifies engineer with any problems of equipment. May instruct nurses, interns, and students in x-ray technique, under direction of qualified radiologist.

    Education and Training:  Graduation from an approved college with an accredited program for Radiologic Technology with an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree. Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  Technologist must have Louisiana State License for Radiology.

Checks patient’s charts for complete and correct physician’s orders.Administer respiratory therapy treatments, oxygen therapy, and performs pulmonary functions testing.  Arterial blood gas performance and analysis.  Maintains arterial blood gas analyzer. Performs Quality control testing and participates in performance testing on the ABG analyzer.  Participates in performance improvement for the RT department.   Participates as a member of code blue team. Performs EKG’s and record maintenance.Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, and oxygen administration devices.Provides emergency care including CPR, for adults, pediatrics and infants.Provides therapy to patients, with knowledge of medication and precautions, measuring patient’s vital signs, consulting with the physicians if adverse reactions occur.

     

    QUALIFICATION:

                 Work Experience Required:         None

                Education and Training:      High school diploma or GED. Graduate from an AMA

    approved course in Respiratory Therapy.  Certified Respiratory therapist, or certification eligible, Registered Respiratory Therapist or registry eligible as approved and recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist.

     

                Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:  Ability and knowledge to perform all

    treatments, testing, and modalities of Respiratory Care. Must maintain current Respiratory Therapy License and CPR certification.

     

    Physical Requirements:   Personnel applying for or being hired will be required to lift

    average of 75 pounds.  Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Must have the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas. Must have the ability to see details at close range.
