    Job DescriptionJob Description Acting on physician's orders, administers prescribed medication as directed; maintains medication accountability records, maintains medication equipment and supplies; performs skilled nursing procedures (i.e., catheterizes, provides gastric feedings); Provides general nursing care, diabetic care, and first-aid treatment as necessary to students; maintains first-aid supplies; screens for communicable diseases. While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required. Investigates staff incidents/accidents; inspects building and grounds in order to ensure property is free of health and safety hazards; Requests, secures follows up on medical information related to assigned students; Serves on safety committee. Prepares and maintains written records and reports as required on, but not limited to, student medical history and information, program objectives and progress data for regular evaluations and for revision of the Individual Educational Plan; Provides consultation services with instructors, parents, guardians and/or significant others regarding health and safety related issues of assigned students. Participates in and/or provides staff training programs; reads professional literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills in areas such as, but not limited to, nursing care, health, safety, behavior modification, systematic training, counseling, normalization, developmental disabilities, instruction and/or curriculum development. Provides instruction and training for school age students in the areas of health, hygiene and safety; Serves as a resource person for staff in providing technical assistance and providing in-service training; Attends and participates in staff meetings to obtain and provide information. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor's degree from accredited institution preferred, previous experience with developmental disability students preferred, one year of professional nursing experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications (must have prior to hire unless otherwise noted): Registered NurseState of Ohio Board of Nursing required, current Healthcare Provider CPR through American Heart Association Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull fifty pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of up to twenty-five pounds; must be able to lift individuals with developmental disabilities and non-ambulatory individuals.
