Fostering Futures is hiring Part-Time Weekend Youth Care Workers ($19-$22/hr) to support at-risk youth in our Omaha residential care program. We are filling MULTIPLE openings - pick the shift that fits your life:
- Saturday & Sunday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Day shift)
- Saturday & Sunday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Evening shift)
- Saturday & Sunday, 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM (Overnight shift)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Be a positive role model and trusted adult for youth in our care
- Lead activities, recreational outings, and skill-building moments
- Guide youth through daily routines (meals, hygiene, chores, recreation)
- Help youth build life skills, handle emotions, and resolve conflict
- Support a calm, structured, and respectful environment
- Document daily observations and youth progress
- Step in supportively during tough moments using trained techniques (we provide the training!)
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with youth in any setting is a plus (camps, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, babysitting, schools, group homes - it all counts)
- Strong communicator who stays calm under pressure
- Reliable, kind, and committed to showing up for kids who need you
- Must pass a background check
- Valid driver's license preferred

Morning Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM): Lead daytime operations, coordinate with administrative staff, and oversee appointments and client progress.Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM): Supervise evening routines, recreational activities, and client interactions, while maintaining a structured environment.Overnight Shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM): Ensure safety and security during nighttime hours, conduct routine facility checks, and prepare for the morning shift.All Shift Managers participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address emergencies or critical needs outside of regular hours.
Responsibilities
As a Shift Manager, your duties include:
General Responsibilities (All Shifts):
Supervise and support direct care staff to ensure high-quality services for youth.Implement trauma-informed practices to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.Monitor the daily schedule and ensure smooth transitions between activities.Respond promptly to incidents, document actions, and escalate to leadership as needed.Conduct end-of-shift handoffs, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care.Perform routine facility checks to uphold safety and cleanliness standards.Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, addressing emergencies as required.Perform other related duties as assigned to support program operations.Shift-Specific Responsibilities:
Morning Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM):
Coordinate administrative activities such as scheduling appointments and meetings.Engage with external stakeholders, such as schools and therapists, to support youth progress.Oversee and prepare documentation for program updates and compliance.Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM):
Monitor and supervise evening routines, including structured recreational and educational activities.Support crisis interventions and de-escalate behavioral issues.Ensure smooth transitions during client activities and bedtime routines.Overnight Shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM):
Maintain safety and security throughout the facility during nighttime hours.Conduct regular bed checks and document overnight incidents.Complete administrative tasks and prepare the facility for the morning shift.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field (preferred but not required).2+ years of experience in residential care, youth services, or supervisory roles.Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.Ability to stand, walk, and move actively throughout the shift.Benefits
