    Simulation Coordinator & Nursing Faculty

    Position Summary

    As the Simulation Coordinator and Nursing Faculty, you'll play a vital role in creating realistic clinical learning experiences that build students' confidence, critical thinking, and clinical judgment before they enter patient care settings.

     

    In this role, you'll collaborate with nursing faculty to integrate, coordinate, and evaluate simulation-based learning throughout the nursing curriculum using Education Affiliates (EA) approved methodologies and evidence-based simulation practices. This position combines academic leadership with teaching responsibilities, with approximately 30% of your time dedicated to classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction. Based on campus and program needs, the instructional component may increase to up to 50% of the role.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Simulation Program Leadership

    Coordinate, implement, and evaluate simulation experiences using Education Affiliates-approved simulation cases, teaching protocols, and best practices.Collaborate with nursing faculty to ensure simulation activities support course and program learning outcomes.Develop, maintain, and oversee simulation lab policies, procedures, and operational protocols.Schedule and coordinate simulation experiences for nursing students and interdisciplinary learning activities.Manage daily operations of the simulation laboratory, including day, evening, and special event scheduling.Maintain accurate records of student participation and simulation activities.Order, inventory, and maintain simulation equipment and supplies to ensure lab readiness.Perform basic troubleshooting of simulation equipment, software, audiovisual systems, and mannequin functionality.Serve as Chair of the campus Simulation Committee.Partner with the EA Simulation Council and Director of Simulation to implement current simulation standards and best practices.Provide budget recommendations for simulation equipment, supplies, and instructional resources.

     

    Teaching & Student Success (Approximately 30% of Role)

    Teach nursing courses, laboratory sessions, clinical experiences, and/or simulation activities as assigned.Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that promotes clinical reasoning, professional development, and student success.Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.Collaborate with faculty to continuously improve curriculum and instructional strategies.Teaching responsibilities generally represent approximately 30% of the position but may increase to up to 50% based on campus needs, enrollment, and faculty coverage.

     

    Faculty & Campus Engagement

    Provide orientation and ongoing support for faculty, staff, and students using the simulation laboratory.Participate in faculty meetings, commencement ceremonies, professional development activities, committee work, and campus events.Maintain professional certification and continuing education, including the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) standards or equivalent professional development, when applicable.Support a collaborative, inclusive, and student-focused academic environment.Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    Required

    Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Virginia or a compact license with privileges to practice in Virgina.Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher from an accredited institution.Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience.Recent experience teaching in classroom, laboratory, clinical, or simulation settings.Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and multidisciplinary team.Completion of Education Affiliates simulation training or comparable simulation education experience.Working knowledge of simulation technologies, including basic troubleshooting of simulation software, audiovisual systems, and high-fidelity mannequins.

     

    Work Schedule

    This position may require flexibility to support daytime, evening, and occasional weekend simulation and instructional activities based on campus and student needs.
