    Medical Scribe – Jacksonville

     

    Join our team at Pediatric Eye Consultant of Central FL, a Division of Florida Pediatric Associates and play a key role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. In this position, you will support healthcare providers, contribute to a positive patient experience, and be part of a collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to making every visit meaningful.

     

    Position Summary:

    The primary responsibility of the Medical Scribe is to provide real-time documentation support to on-site practitioner. The Medical Scribe ensures accurate and complete recording of patient encounters, clinical procedures, and treatment plans, allowing on-site practitioner to focus on patient care while maintaining high standards of documentation quality and compliance.

     

    Education and Training

    High School Diploma or GEDCertified Medical Scribe Professional - preferred

     

    Experience 

    Minimum of one (1) year working as a Medical Scribe or in a clinical documentation role in medical practice.

     

    Skills

    Working knowledge of:

    Medical equipment and clinical instrumentsElectronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

    Understanding of:

    Medical terminology, anatomy, and common clinical conditionsClinical workflows and patient encounter processes in a medical settingsDocumentation standards, accuracy, and real-time charting requirements Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and proper data entry practices Physician dictation, instructions, and medical decision-making processes 

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Accompany the on-site practitioner during patient visits to accurately document medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Record patient information, including history of present illness, review of systems, and past medical history. Document procedures, diagnostic results, and physician instructions in a timely and accurate manner. Assist with chart preparation prior to patient visits, ensuring all relevant information is available. Support on-site practitioner with administrative tasks such as completing forms, referrals, and prescription documentation. Ensure all documentation meets quality and compliance standards. Communicate effectively with on-site practitioner and clinical staff to ensure smooth workflow.Escort patients to check-out or optical dispensary areas as needed to ensure a smooth transition of care. Seek guidance from senior staff when necessary and perform duties within the scope of training and competency.

    Position Summary:

    The Front Office Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients, delivering excellent customer service while managing scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, and payment collection. The Front Office Specialist supports both patients and clinical staff by maintaining accurate records, coordinating communication, and ensuring a smooth and positive patient experience from check-in through check-out, while adhering to all compliance and confidentiality standards.

     

    This position is Monday-Thursday

     

    Education and Training

    High School Diploma or GED


    Experience

    One year of experience working at the front desk of a medical front office or similar role.Experience with patient scheduling systems (ECW and Phreesia) and registration procedures preferred.


    Skills

    Working knowledge of:Patient scheduling software.Patient registration & scheduling.Insurance verification and basic billing procedures.Data entry and database management.Office equipment, including scanners, fax machines, and copiers.Understanding of:Customer service best practice in a healthcare setting

     

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    Welcome patients, families, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner and verify the purpose of the visit.Answer telephone calls, provide information, screen and route telephone calls to the appropriate person or department.Schedule patient appointments.Coordinate communication with referring physicians and health-care facilities.Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits and obtain required authorizations prior to patient visits.Perform the patient check-in process that includes:    Obtain, verify, and update patient demographic information including contact information.Verify and update insurance information and benefit changes in the practice management system.Ensure completion of the automated check-in process, when applicable.Ensure patients sign required patient check-in documents.Ensure that signed patient documents are filed within the medical record.Confirm that required authorizations are received and filed.Collect co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, and any outstanding balances prior to the patient being seen by providerPerform the patient check-out process that includes:Scheduling follow-up appointments and diagnostic tests ordered during the visit.Remind the patient of the importance to keep follow-up appointments and to complete ordered diagnostic tests.Collect payments, including co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, and any outstanding balance amounts for any additional services that were rendered.Provide receipts for all transactionsPerform end-of-day reconciliation process, including balancing and reporting daily receipts, as assigned.Perform administrative and general office functions, including but not limited to copying, filing, faxing, and data entry.

The Ophthalmic Technician assists on-site practitioners in delivering quality patient care, including performing preliminary eye examinations, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation of clinical information.

     

    Education and Training

    High School Diploma or GEDCertified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)-  (preferred)


    Experience

    Minimum of one year working as an Ophthalmic Technician in a Medical Practice.


    Skills

    Interact with all patients in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner consistent with practice standards.Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories, including chief complaint, history of present illness, past medical and ocular history, family history, allergies, and current medications.Perform clinical testing and measurements with accuracy, ensuring consistent and detailed documentation in patient records.Assist with minor procedures, including administration of topical ophthalmic medications and preparation of patients for dilation.Troubleshoot and maintain clinical equipment, including replacing bulbs, checking connections, and reporting unresolved issues to the Lead Ophthalmic Technician; ensure exam lanes are clean, organized, and adequately stocked.Assist on-site practitioner in all clinical areas, including preparing for and cleaning after minor procedures, and performing diagnostic tests as directed.Maintain efficient patient flow, adjusting testing sequences as necessary to support clinic operations.Escort patients to check-out as needed to ensure a smooth transition of care.Seek guidance from senior staff when necessary and perform duties within the scope of training and competency.
