    Foundations Learning Academy is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Teacher to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a classroom, mentor teaching staff, and positively impact the lives of young learners in a supportive and nurturing educational environment.

    Position Summary

    The Lead Teacher serves as the instructional and operational leader of the classroom, ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to excellence in early childhood education.

    Key Responsibilities

    Classroom Leadership

    Create and maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.Foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.Establish positive classroom routines and behavior expectations.Curriculum & Instruction

    Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.Promote creativity, exploration, and school readiness through hands-on activities.Monitor and assess children's developmental progress.Staff Development & Mentorship

    Supervise and support Assistant Teachers and classroom staff.Model best practices in early childhood education.Encourage teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.Compliance & Safety

    Ensure compliance with all DSS, DBHDS, state licensing, and health and safety regulations.Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios at all times.Complete required documentation accurately and timely.Family Engagement

    Build positive relationships with parents and families.Communicate regularly regarding children's progress, milestones, and classroom activities.Partner with families to support each child's success.Team Collaboration

    Participate in leadership meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.Collaborate with academy leadership to promote a culture of excellence and continuous growth.Qualifications

    Required

    Experience in early childhood education, childcare, or preschool settings.Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.Commitment to providing high-quality care and education.Preferred

    CDA, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.Knowledge of Virginia childcare licensing requirements and regulations.CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).Why Join Foundations Learning Academy?

    At Foundations Learning Academy, we believe children are our most valuable resource—and the future we are nurturing every day. We are seeking a passionate and caring Program Lead Aide who is excited to help shape young lives in a safe, supportive, and enriching environment.

    In this role, you will partner with the Program Lead to create meaningful learning experiences that support the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of infants and toddlers. You’ll play an important part in building strong relationships with children and their families, while helping to create a classroom environment where every child feels valued, safe, and inspired to grow.

    What You’ll Do

     Support engaging, age-appropriate activities that nurture children’s growth across all developmental areas  Collaborate as part of a supportive, team-centered classroom environment  Help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for children and their families  Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning space that promotes well-being  Build positive relationships with families and encourage their involvement  Partner with staff and families to ensure a high-quality program experience  Follow all Foundations Learning Academy policies and licensing standards  Maintain knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards (when applicable)  Participate in ongoing professional development, including trainings and workshops  Provide basic care including First Aid/CPR and medication administration (or obtain certification in a timely manner)  Support child safety by following proper reporting procedures when necessary  Uphold the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct  Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the success of the program What We’re Looking For
