    Position Overview

    The Quality Assurance Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance across our chilled food operations. This role ensures that all products meet internal and external standards, supports continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of quality throughout the organization.

    Responsibilities

    Lead and manage QA team members, including Supervisors and Technicians.Oversee implementation and maintenance of SQF, HACCP, and GMP standardsEnsure audit readiness and lead internal, customer, and third-party audits.Manage customer complaints and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.Monitor sanitation practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Develop and deliver training programs for QA and production staff.Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve quality issues and improve processes.Maintain and analyze quality metrics and KPIs (e.g., audit scores, complaint resolution time).Lead product hold, release, and recall procedures.Serve as the in-plant expert for crisis management and food safety.Support sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or related field (advanced degree preferred).10+ years of progressive experience in quality, food production, sanitation, or food safety.Quality certifications preferred (e.g., CFS, CQM, CQE, CQA).SQF or BRC certification required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital QMS platforms (e.g., SAP, TraceGains).HACCP and Food Safety training required.Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Must have the ability to see and handle products, machinery, and hand tools. Must be able to wear required PPE such as hard hats, hairnets, smocks, gloves and closed-toed shoes.

    Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will operate a continuous improvement maintenance program based upon equipment cost control and reliable machinery that supports Food Safety, Personal Safety, Product Quality, Production Goals, and Cost Reduction. Responsibilities include staffing, processing equipment and refrigeration systems and facilities. The Maintenance Manager will support all safety programs, policies and procedures, and have a personal value system that will assist in creating a work environment that is based on trust, human dignity, and honesty which in turn will contribute to a high quality of life for all employees.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Job Tasks/Duties (not all inclusive):

    Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.Make recommendations on the replacement of equipment and systems to enhance reliability, food safety, personal safety, reduce cost, and increase productivity.Evaluate physical, mechanical, and utility components of building structure. Coordinate facility structural repair and enhancement activities with Director of Operations.Assure Sanitary Design Practices are implemented throughout the facility. Review sub-contractors work for compliance with standards and specifications.Insure compliance with fire and safety codes, company protocol and all applicable regulations.Maintain a good working relationship with vendors, contractors, and other departments.Review Monthly utility expenditures and implement energy reduction programs.Oversee the maintenance and operation of facility refrigeration systems.Monitor and oversee the plant environmental program, to include, but not limited to Tier II reporting, SARA, and wastewater.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in related fieldMinimum four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Prefer ENGINEERING background.
