    The Project Manager is responsible for Job Order Contracts and/or work orders in the Houston region. The Manager reports directly to the Vice President for the Group.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the management of the construction contract(s) and/or work orders
    • Supervisory responsibility for project team assigned to contract(s) and/or work orders
    • Collaborate with other Project Manager(s) in the office, as necessary.
    • Collaborate and monitor Superintendent(s) performance on contracts and/or work orders
    • Create and collaborate on work proposals
    • Negotiate financial disputes and change orders with owners
    • Administrative point of contact for the owner
    • Understand details of project scope of work
    • Create and maintain project cost reports
    • Document and negotiate changes that may affect project completion or contract costs with subcontractors and owners
    • Develop field quality assurance and quality control plan with Superintendent
    • Collaboration of project safety plan with Superintendent(s)
    • Responsible for managing MBE/WBE subcontracting requirements
    • Responsible for EEO/Affirmative action contract requirements

    Requirements

    • B.S in Construction Management or Engineering and / or 10 years of construction experience.
    • Minimum of 6 years managing construction projects
    • Experience managing Job Order Contract projects preferred
    • Experience with eGordian and/or RSMeans preferred
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously
    • Knowledge of construction, design, cost reporting and cash flow management
    • Proficiency in Project Management and Scheduling Software
    • Great communication and organizational skills

    Position Overview:

    The Project Manager will manage Heavy Civil projects and manage the project team. Projects may vary between private and public owners, as well as a variety of delivery methods such as lump sum, negotiated and unit price work. The projects often include management of self-perform work, as well as managing subcontracted work.

    $90,000-$125,000

    Overview:

    An Estimator supports and works with management, operations and estimating staff in the review of project plans, requirements, and specifications. The Estimator generates budgets, estimates and proposals with the understanding of the constructability, means and methods, logistics, schedule, risk, and profitability of each project. Must have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles with a wide variety of project types and be capable of estimating hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects.

    • Supervisory responsibility for Project Engineer(s), Assistant Project Manager(s), and Construction Intern assigned to contract(s) and/or work orders.
    • Create work proposals.
    • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
    • Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
    • Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
    • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
    • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man hour figures.
    • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
    • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
    • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to bid/project as assigned.
    • Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimates figures.
    • Interact with owner, A/E, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.

    Requirements

    • B.S in Construction Management or Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of construction experience.
    • Experience with a general contractor managing projects or programs is required.
    • Ability to manage project and personnel simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of construction, design, cost reporting and cash flow management.
    • Computer skills, knowledge of Project Management, Scheduling, good communication and organizational skills are necessary.

    • Ability to take off quantities, develop price estimates using prescribed unit price catalogs, submit a complete proposal package and negotiate scope and price proposals with client.
    • Responsible for the P/L of the contract

    • Active participant in project quality and safety programs
    • Collaborate with staff to provide alternative solutions for clients
    • Collaborate and monitor Superintendent(s) performance on contracts and/or work orders
    • Point of contact for project management staff, architects, subcontractors, owners, engineers and more
    • Firm understanding of General Contracting and all divisions of work
    • Create and maintain project cost and management reports
    • Document and negotiate changes that may affect project completion or contract costs with subcontractors and owners
