    As a Safety Co-Op/Intern, you will take a hands-on approach to helping ensure a safety-focused work environment. This co-op student will be responsible for helping in all locations with safety initiatives specific to the jobsite, while helping support corporate safety values. Projects in which a co-op will participate will vary but will model the duties below to the extent possible.

    Co-op rotations can be in the spring, summer, or fall.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    Assist in providing a safety-focused work environment.Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development including pre-job and post - job, Safety Audit Structure.Assist in developing a continuous improvement plan to improve safety throughout the company through communication and training sessions. Develop job specific safety plans.Assist in emergency response program.Assist in organizing safety information from online resources.Assist in safety inspectors during a property inspection.Assist in ensuring that any work hazard complaints or concerns are thoroughly followed.Provide constant communication between Project Supervisors, Subcontractors, Project Managers, and provide detailed information to necessary chain of command for all safety support reports.Recognize jobsite hazards and controls, support regulation, and monitor necessary regulation changes.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Enrollment in bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management or closely related field.Ability to translate regulatory knowledge into policies and procedures.Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively.Proven competency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office.Travel requirements: 75% (to other jobsite locations several times a week.) Travel pay reimbursement given.OSHA 30 Construction preferred

    What you will do:

    Field Co-Ops:

    With Ferguson Construction Company, you will gain the hands-on experience learning each skilled trade in the business. You will be working with Full Time construction professionals as they provide guidance and share their knowledge on various tasks. You will be involved with, and have specific project responsibilities, assigned to you. Mentoring is a critical part to the success of our co-op program. Our evaluation process allows our supervisors to ensure the right amount of guidance and training on the jobsite.

    Daily activities will enable you to experience applicable processes and management methods firsthand. Supervisors and project staff will structure your work efforts to help you learn about your area of interest while you contribute directly to the completion of a quality project.

    We are currently seeking Construction Field Co-ops with a passion for commercial construction to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to work alongside our field craftworkers and learn how each contributes to the successful completion of the project. Our Field Co-ops assist onsite to ensure a safe work environment, quality construction, effective planning & scheduling, cost management, collaboration with project stakeholders, and superior customer service. The ideal candidate will possess a desire for growth, long-term thinking, relationship building skills, and a growing familiarity with the construction industry.

    Office Co-Ops:

    We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented candidates for our Construction Office Co-op position. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in construction administration, offering valuable insights into the industry. The successful candidate will support our office and contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of our projects.

    The Office Co-op position at Ferguson Construction Company offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction administration. This role will involve supporting our office, including Operations/Leadership support, the Project Management teams, HR Department, and Engineer, Safety & Architecture Teams while providing essential administrative assistance to ensure efficient and effective operations. Applicants must be enrolled in a similar or related field that contributes to these administrative positions.

    This position will report to, and work side by side with, our Managing Architect. The selected candidate will have the privilege of also working closely with our President, who is also a Professional Engineer. Functioning as a small to medium design department with internal architectural, and civil design staff, the position will work with our current designers to design a variety of projects from preliminary design and pricing sketches through construction documents.

    Responsibilities:Work with current designers to direct, design, analyze, and draw structural drawings for new buildings, additions, and renovations.Design and analyze conventional steel buildings, including framing plans.Design shallow foundations, slabs, modest retaining walls, pits, and steel reinforcing.Work with current designers to develop structural drawings and specifications to obtain building permits.Communicate and coordinate designs with architectural and civil staff.Review and seal structural drawings for submission to jurisdictions.Review steel supplier shop drawings for compliance with our design and construction drawings.Responsible for estimating material and labor, ordering, and coordinating deliveries of pre-engineered metal buildings and accessories.Quantity takeoffs and development of self-perform labor and equipment costs.Parts estimating and purchasing for other buyout type items (insulated metal wall panels, liner panel, insulation, roofing, trims, doors, anchor bolts, etc.).Coordinate with pre-engineered supplier engineers to determine cost effective solutions. Work with business development and design staff to establish best and/or most economical building layouts and details and help identify potential value engineering opportunities.Position will work with customers, code officials, outside consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers as well as our internal staff of architectural and civil designers, sales, estimating, operations, and superintendents across all (4) of our regional offices.

    Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.Professional Engineer License, or ability to obtain it within a year.Minimum 3 years' experience performing concrete and steel engineering work.Proficient and well versed in CAD, or Tekla. Revit experience a plus.Detail oriented, with problem-solving skills, and an understanding of construction, steel erection, shoring, and economics of design.Organized with good communication skills.Deadline and detail-oriented, with a customer focus.
