Responsibilities Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents Serve as the most senior inspector on projects as needed Perform other duties as needed This position will be located on site at our project located in Rhinecliff, NY Preferred Qualifications Rail construction experience strongly preferred Technical school or Associate degree OSHA 30 CPR Certified Relevant Industry Certifications Ability to interpret construction schedules Required Qualifications Requires high school diploma or equivalent.     Role Overview Commissioning Project Lead – Helsinki (Finland). Responsible for ensuring that building services systems are, will be, or have been commissioned properly and in accordance with the relevant requirements. The role includes oversight of commissioning activities from design review through to final handover, coordinating multidisciplinary efforts, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction. Responsibilities Ensure client commitments are met on time and with the required level of detail and quality. Validate the building services (M E) commissioning process and confirm that results meet requirements. Inspect existing systems to determine performance and advise on mechanical and electrical commissioning requirements, strategies, programs, and scopes of work. Carry out measurements, surveys, and other technical inspections. Collaborate with other organizational members to improve existing systems and procedures. Act as a champion in particular technical areas. Promote the company and its group through marketing activities. Plan the equipment required for testing and assist in the preparation of tender documents. Accurately complete timesheets on a weekly basis and proactively assist other staff. Take full ownership of the commissioning scope from early design review through final handover, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project milestones. Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary commissioning activities, acting as the primary point of contact between client, contractors, and internal teams. Identify, manage, and mitigate commissioning risks and issues to prevent impact on programme or quality. Drive programme integration of commissioning activities within the overall construction schedule, ensuring readiness and sequencing of works. Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and site staff, promoting best practice and technical excellence across the project. Act safely at all times in accordance with the company's health and safety policies and procedures. Work diligently, efficiently and professionally at all times. Ensure technical compliance and high quality production of all commissioning work. Work closely with the main contractor's team to develop commissioning strategies and processes that fully meet the project objectives. Fully adopt the company's project and internal management systems. Maintain a keen awareness of project finances and control related expenditure. Attend meetings as required and produce internal and client reports that include technical, commercial and programmatic aspects. Provide technical commentary on drawings, manuals and technical submissions. Report internally on scope changes. Work with professional team members to assess progress, difficulties and costs. Perform hands-on commissioning work as required. Represent the company in client-facing technical discussions and key project meetings, reinforcing confidence in delivery capability. Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes, standards and digital tools across projects. Preferred Qualifications BEng Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with Building Services. Considerable experience demonstrating project management skills. Member of CIBSE, ASHRAE or equivalent professional organisations is an advantage. At least five years of experience in a commissioning engineer role in a building-oriented company across data centres, commercial, residential, life science or health-care sectors. Experience with company Quality Environmental policies and procedures. IT literate – proficient with the MS Office package. Required Qualifications Minimum eight years of industry experience involving mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines. Willingness to travel to site-based locations as reasonably required by HDR. Experienced engineer, either a licensed PE or a field technician with excellent understanding of MEP systems, HVAC controls, the T B process, etc. Good computer and effective typing skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with the organization of design documents, preparation of multidisciplinary designs, and delivery of design and construction services. Strong knowledge of construction practices, systems engineering, operations fundamentals, contracting and general business operations. Understanding of project accounting and financial management tools. Ability to prioritize and organise work, working on multiple tasks concurrently.
