    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFairfax Colon & Rectal Surgery (FCRS) is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our growing clinical team.

    Since 1984, FCRS has evolved into the largest single-specialty colorectal practice in the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area, consisting of nine colorectal surgeons, two physician assistants, and one nurse practitioner, servicing five office locations throughout Northern Virginia.

    We have accomplished this by serving our patients, employees, and healthcare community with integrity, leadership and commitment to excellence. Our mission is to provide the highest quality, innovative, coordinated colorectal care for all of our patients.


    Essential Job Functions:

    Assisting the clinical team with monitoring and managing daily schedules and organizing patient flow.Performing and recording patient vital signs, health histories, medication lists, and other relevant clinical information.Assisting the providers with patient examinations and procedures.Collecting, processing, and coordinating pathological specimens.Cleaning, sanitizing, and resupplying examination rooms.Restocking provider offices with patient educational material.Assisting clinical team in disinfecting exam room instrumentation and equipment.Documenting and communicating patient information, updates, and concerns to providers.Answering, returning, and documenting patient phone calls and portal messages.Managing/tracking clinical orders.Managing/routing medication refill requests.Assisting clinical team in managing/routing incoming fax documents.Compiling/sending all required pre-surgical clinical documentation to the appropriate facility.Managing/tracking patient medical record requests when required.Providing patient education material on medications, procedures, and provider recommendations in accordance with established office protocols.Participating in practice education activities, meetings, and ongoing training.Managing patient electronic medical records.

    Requirements:

    High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of a medical assistant training program (preferred)Certification as a medical assistant (preferred)Experience working in a healthcare setting (preferred)Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical proceduresProficiency in using electronic health record systemsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-orientedAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work well with others in a team environment
