The Challenge We are seeking a Controller to join our full-service Architectural and Engineering Design and construction Firm in our Chicago, IL office. This individual will work with accounting team at exp Federal as well as accountants in our Parent and Affiliate companies. All work will be performed under the supervision and direction of the Director of Accounting. Principal Areas of Responsibility: Assists the Director of Accounting to ensure coverage of all accounting functions for the business Assists the Director of Accounting to collect and compile financial data and oversees the preparation of forecasts, tax filings, financial, budget, auditing and other reports for exp Federal, subsidiary companies, foreign branch offices, and Joint Ventures.
Ensures compliance with accounting regulations and standards and adheres to company policies and procedures. Monitor the company's financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs
Maintain effective communication with internal & external clients
Develop & implement internal controls & procedures
Financial statement preparation & presentation
Performs as Project Accountant for select projects
Invoice clients
Assists in the review of various local, State, US, and Foreign tax reports and VAT filings
Assist in developing and directing accounting professionals and accounting support staff through subordinate managers when applicable.
Create, maintain, and deliver accounting and finance related training for Project Managers, accounting staff, and other staff as directed by senior management
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field with 10+ years of progressively increasing accounting experience OR a non-related bachelor's degree with 15+years of progressive accounting experience. Significant experience with the US Federal Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) compliance
Significant experience with FAR and government contracts Advanced proficiency in revenue recognition and analyzing revenue and cost variances
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications including Excel pivot tables
Ability to analyzing revenue and costs variances
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications
Experience working in Excel including pivot tables Skills assessment required as part of interview process Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with independent work habits
High attention to detail and accuracy
Experience working in a fast-paced office and deadline-oriented environment
Desired Qualifications Working knowledge of Deltek Vision or VantagePoint software
Salary Base: This position has an annual range of $115,900.00 to $142,000.00USD. The actual hourly is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
