    Position Overview

    We are seeking a Senior SCADA Engineer with deep ABB DCS experience to support the design, integration, commissioning, and sustainment of mission-critical industrial control systems. This role requires hands-on expertise with ABB System 800xA, strong control systems fundamentals, and experience operating in live, regulated, brownfield environments (e.g., water/wastewater, utilities, power, or heavy industry).

    The ideal candidate is technically strong, operationally disciplined, and understands that system stability, governance, and collaboration with operations are as important as engineering excellence.

    Key ResponsibilitiesABB DCS / SCADA Engineering

    Design, configure, and maintain ABB System 800xA–based control and SCADA systemsDevelop, modify, and troubleshoot control logic on ABB AC 800M controllersConfigure and support S800 / S900 I/O, remote I/O, and fieldbus integrationsBuild and maintain operator graphics, alarms, and trends within 800xASupport system upgrades, expansions, and lifecycle management activitiesIntegration & Data Systems

    Integrate ABB DCS with enterprise SCADA, HMI, and historian platformsSupport OPC DA / OPC UA communicationsIntegrate with OSIsoft / AVEVA PI System (interfaces, data quality, reliability)Ensure proper separation of control, supervisory, and enterprise data layersParticipate in architecture discussions to ensure scalable, supportable designsCommissioning & Operations Support

    Participate in FAT / SAT, loop checks, and field commissioningSupport live plant cutovers, phased migrations, and parallel operationsProvide post-startup stabilization and on-call operational support as requiredWork directly with operators and maintenance staff during commissioning and troubleshootingAlarm Management & HMI Standards

    Implement and support alarm management practices (ISA-18.2 / EEMUA-191 aligned)Support alarm rationalization and performance monitoringApply high-performance HMI principles and client graphic standardsAssist with development and enforcement of SCADA/HMI standardsGovernance, Documentation & Change Control

    Develop and maintain:Control narrativesLoop diagrams and I/O documentationAs-built drawings and configuration recordsFollow formal Management of Change (MOC) and configuration control processesEnsure all system changes are authorized, documented, tested, and approvedSupport audits and compliance reviews as requiredRequired Qualifications (Must-Have)

    7+ years of hands-on industrial control systems experience5+ years of direct experience with ABB System 800xADemonstrated expertise with:AC 800M controllersS800 / S900 I/OABB control logic (FBD, ST, SFC)Strong understanding of:Process control fundamentalsPID control and tuningInterlocks, permissives, and safety conceptsExperience working in live, 24x7 operational environmentsAbility to troubleshoot complex control and SCADA issues under pressurePreferred / Differentiating Qualifications

    Experience in water/wastewater, utilities, power generation, or municipal infrastructureBrownfield modernization and phased cutover experienceOSIsoft / AVEVA PI System integration experienceFamiliarity with OT cybersecurity concepts (IEC 62443, role-based access)Experience coordinating with IT, cybersecurity, and SOC teamsABB certifications (800xA, AC 800M, or equivalent)Soft Skills & Professional Expectations

    Strong communication skills with operators, engineers, and leadershipDemonstrated respect for plant ownership and operational authorityAbility to work collaboratively in multi-vendor, multi-stakeholder environmentsDisciplined approach to change management — no unauthorized changesComfortable explaining complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholdersJob Types: Full-time, Contract
