    We’re excited to partner with one of our valued clients in Sebastopol, CA, to find a Senior Construction Project Manager who can independently manage projects while also taking on some of the COO’s current responsibilities. This individual should have the ability to mentor and support team members, help drive department initiatives, and provide overall leadership to the team.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Personally manage 2–3 active commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.Lead project planning, scheduling, procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and execution.Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.Review contracts, scopes of work, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.Monitor project schedules, budgets, quality, and profitability.Identify project risks early and implement proactive solutions.Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the company’s quality standards.Mentor, coach, and develop Project Managers and Project Engineers.Serve as the primary technical and operational resource for project teams.Provide guidance on complex project challenges, contract administration, financial management, scheduling, and client communications.Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports.Assist with onboarding and training new Project Managers.Promote accountability while fostering professional growth and career development.Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement throughout the Operations team.Oversee multiple active projects while ensuring consistency in project execution.Review project financials, forecasts, budgets, and WIP reports.Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and project management processes.Assist with estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction planning when needed.Support company initiatives that improve project delivery, communication, and operational performance.Help establish and maintain project management standards and best practices across the organization.Review budgets, cost reports, forecasts, billings, and cash flow.Monitor project profitability and implement corrective action when necessary.Identify financial risks early and develop mitigation strategies.Ensure accurate forecasting throughout the life of every project.Build and maintain long-term relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.Represent the company with professionalism and integrity.Identify opportunities for repeat business and new project opportunities.Assist with business development efforts and strategic client relationships when appropriate.Champion the company’s safety culture.Ensure OSHA and company safety standards are consistently followed.Conduct periodic project audits and jobsite visits.Promote quality workmanship and continuous improvement across all projects.Provide regular project updates and strategic recommendations to the COO and Executive Team.Participate in operational planning, staffing, and resource allocation.Assist leadership with long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives.Promote and model the company’s values, culture, and leadership expectations.Mentor and oversee assigned Project Managers.Supervise Project Engineers.Collaborate closely with Superintendents and field leadership.Conduct performance coaching and one-on-one meetings.Assist in identifying future leaders within the Operations team.Other duties as assigned.

     Skills and Qualifications:

    10+ years of commercial construction project management experience.Demonstrated success managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.Proven ability to successfully manage 2–3 active projects while providing leadership and support to other Project Managers.Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing Project Managers and Project Engineers.Strong understanding of commercial construction financial management, forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, and cost controls.Experience leading project teams through all phases of construction.Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with owners, executives, architects, consultants, and internal leadership.Experience implementing or improving project management processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies.Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while balancing competing priorities.Excellent relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills.Comprehensive knowledge of commercial construction means and methods from site development through project closeout.Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.Experience with negotiated and design-build projects.OSHA 30 Certification.First Aid/CPR Certification.Company DescriptionExcel Personnel Services is a full-service employment agency serving California’s Central Coast and beyond since 1995.     Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or other relevant certification preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management or public accounting, with a range of experience in Individual, Corporate, Partnership, Fiduciary, and Exempt entities.Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.Proficient in Lacerte tax software, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Slack, Canopy Tax, CFS, Zoom, Webex, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Lead all onsite construction activities from project startup through final closeout.Serve as the primary field leader and point of contact for subcontractors, owners, architects, inspectors,and project stakeholders.Lead by example as a hands-on Superintendent, remaining actively engaged in field operations, coachingcrews, solving technical challenges, and supporting project teams to ensure successful execution.Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, deliveries, and self-perform crews.Develop and maintain detailed short-interval (two-week look-ahead) schedules.Maintain organized, efficient, and professional jobsites.Review construction documents, specifications, RFIs, ASIs, submittals, shop drawings, and contract requirements.Coordinate project sequencing to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality and schedule.Identify project risks early and proactively implement solutions before they impact cost or schedule.Assist Project Managers with RFIs, change orders, scheduling updates, and field coordination.Maintain accurate daily reports, photo documentation, and project records.Monitor labor productivity and equipment utilization.Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative job site culture.Mentor Foremen, Assistant Superintendents, apprentices, and field personnel.Develop field leaders by providing coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback.Promote teamwork between field and office staff.Conduct weekly coordination meetings and daily communication with project teams.Champion the company’s commitment to safety.Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.Conduct daily safety observations and regular job site inspections.Lead weekly safety meetings and enforce PPE requirements.Maintain site-specific safety documentation and emergency action plans.Hold subcontractors accountable for maintaining safe work practices.Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.Proactively identify design conflicts and coordinate solutions with the Project Manager.Minimize rework through planning, inspections, and continuous quality monitoring.Verify completed work before inspections and owner walkthroughs.Build strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors.Represent the company professionally in every interaction.Maintain positive relationships with neighboring businesses and the surrounding community.Provide exceptional customer service throughout the project lifecycle.Other duties as assigned.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Minimum 7–10 years of commercial construction field leadership experience as a Superintendent.Demonstrated success leading commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.Experience managing commercial construction projects valued at $2-$5 million or greater (or projects of similar size and complexity).Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades while maintaining schedule, quality, and budget.Strong understanding of commercial construction means and methods.Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues before they affect schedule or cost.Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.Valid California Driver’s License.Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field.OSHA 30 Certification.First Aid/CPR Certification.Experience with self-performing carpentry.Experience delivering negotiated and design-built commercial projects.Company DescriptionExcel Personnel Services is a full-service employment agency serving California’s Central Coast and beyond since 1995.
