JOB DESCRIPTION An ERISAfire attorney is affable and knowledgeable, offering practical (not just theoretical) legal advice. He or she will be advising clients on employee benefits regulatory compliance, focusing primarily on retainer clients. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of legal experience in health and welfare benefits compliance—i.e., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other laws pertaining to employee benefits. He or she must have excellent research and writing skills; be able to communicate findings and recommendations effectively (clearly, concisely and technically correct) both in writing and verbally; and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously. This position carries a billable hour requirement of 1,200 hours annually. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Stay apprised of legal and regulatory updates affecting health and welfare benefit plans including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and the Internal Revenue Code • Advise employer and insurance agency clients on health and welfare benefits compliance questions • Welfare benefits compliance audits • Insurance and other benefits-related contract audits • Controlled group and affiliated service group determination • Maintain and update plan document templates • Plan document and Form 5500 quality review, issue related legal opinions • ACA penalty defense • Non-discrimination testing • HIPAA compliance training • Other duties as assigned COMPENSATION
