An average day: As Software QA Engineer III, you will lead comprehensive quality assurance and testing activities for complex federal software systems, implementing wholistic QA/QC programs through CI/CD pipelines. This senior-level position focuses on building and growing test automation frameworks to support frequent application releases while ensuring delivery of high-quality, production-ready functionality with minimal user disruption. In this position you will: Execute comprehensive testing activities in accordance with DHS SELC guidelines for Agile development, industry best practices, and Agile methodology to ensure system quality and compliance Design and implement advanced test automation solutions for all testing activities using appropriate automation tools to enable DevSecOps implementation across development lifecycles Lead test coverage initiatives including functional, progression, regression, performance, security, integration, and Section 508 compliance testing through CI/CD pipeline integration Demonstrate system resilience and performance capabilities to meet or exceed transaction response requirements and Key Performance Parameters (KPPs) as specified in operational requirements Implement and maintain defect and resolution tracking mechanisms within testing infrastructure for issues identified during comprehensive test activities and production deployments Track and analyze code quality metrics for released user stories including trends of errors from development to production throughout the code's lifetime Develop and implement comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plans (QA/QCP) that identify clear end-to-end test strategies across all system environments supporting sustainment and future development Support third-party testing activities including customer User Acceptance Testing (UAT), independent verification and validation (IV&V), and federal agency audits Utilize Test-Driven Development methodology to ensure software requirements are converted to test cases before software development and track development through repeated testing against all cases Lead QA/QC metrics collection initiatives that capture baseline and trend analyses of quality progress while maintaining escaped defect tracking into integration and production environments Basic Qualifications: As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.
