An average day: As Computer Systems Engineer/DevSecOps Lead, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end implementation, innovation, and efficient delivery of IT services for critical federal systems. This senior-level position manages DevSecOps practices, cloud infrastructure operations, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines while ensuring compliance with federal security standards. The role provides technical leadership for system architecture, automation, and modernization efforts in cloud-based environments. In this position you will: Lead DevSecOps implementation and automation using CI/CD orchestration tools to enable on-demand code releases with minimal systems team assistance while maintaining security and compliance standards Manage cloud-based infrastructure operations including setup, maintenance, networking, patch management, server and database upgrades, Extended Validation certificate management, and backup/disaster recovery solutions Direct comprehensive development activities using Agile methodologies to deliver new applications and functionality incorporating cybersecurity, 508 accessibility compliance, and application performance optimization Oversee maintenance and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment processes while conducting testing and assisting with production deployments across multiple environments Lead system integration efforts to ensure interoperability with other customer systems and applications through API development and maintenance of proper interface documentation Manage audit logging capabilities, application performance monitoring tools, and development of reports and dashboards for business, security, and audit compliance requirements Coordinate Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs) and provide recommendations for new system features, data solutions, reports, and architectural improvements leveraging new technology or adapting to changing requirements Direct mobile device application development for iOS and Android platforms and responsive website development for web-facing applications using cloud-native development practices Lead business analysis activities to gather and implement requirements including storing, tracking, and tracing all requirements to applicable documentation, tests, and work products Manage research and development activities to discover efficiencies, leverage technology advances, and support program evolution including new application development and integration with non-system applications and datasets Basic Qualifications: As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field Minimum 10 years of experience in systems engineering, cloud architecture, DevSecOps implementation, or related technical fields with demonstrated leadership, knowledge, and expertise Experience implementing DevSecOps practices in support of cloud and/or software development programs for federal agencies with knowledge of federal compliance requirements Proficiency with CI/CD orchestration tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms for automated code deployment and testing Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) including infrastructure as code, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native development practices Advanced knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef), version control systems (Git), and infrastructure automation frameworks Experience with monitoring and logging tools (DataDog, Splunk, ELK Stack), application performance monitoring solutions, and security scanning tools for vulnerability management Proficiency in programming and scripting languages including Java, Python, PowerShell, Bash, and experience with API development and integration Industry certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent cloud and DevSecOps certifications preferred Prior experience and knowledge of federal technical environments and interrelated technical environments preferred Prior experience and knowledge of FEMA's technical environment and interrelated technical environments preferred Other Requirements: Current Public Trust High required or ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
