Environmental Consulting & Technology (ECT) is looking for a dynamic Senior Project Manager to help drive our Michigan Region forward. In this high-impact role, you will lead complex natural resource projects from concept to completion—shaping permitting strategies across local, state, and federal levels, building strong client partnerships, and delivering meaningful environmental solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead large complex projects to ensure regulatory compliance, schedule adherence, and quality deliveryDevelop and execute local, state and federal permitting strategiesPrepare and oversee permit applications, technical reports, and supporting analysisCoordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to facilitate reviews and approvalsManage project staffing, budgets, schedules, and client communicationsCoordinate wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and other environmental field assessments with multidisciplinary teamsInterpret permit conditions and develop compliance plans for construction and operationsPerform and oversee QA/QC for project deliverablesPrepare proposals, cost estimates, and contracting documentsSupervise and mentor project teams and uphold ECT’s values of safety, quality, integrity, and teamworkEducation & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental science, biology, ecology, or engineeringMinimum 10 years of natural resources permitting and compliance experience (consulting or regulatory)Minimum 5 years of project management experience leading environmental and/or natural resources projectsTechnical expertise in two or more of the following: Land Use Permitting, Michigan PA 233 Permitting, Wetland Delineation, Natural Resources Permitting, Threatened & Endangered Species, Wetland & Waterway Permitting, or Vegetation ManagementKnowledge of Michigan and federal environmental regulations (experience in other Midwest states is a plus)Experience preparing technical reports and regulatory documents supporting local, state and federal permits, including, but not limited to, Department of the Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Part 303- wetlands protection, 301- inland lakes and streams, and 31- floodplain permits, special land use permits, and/or Michigan Public Service Commission PA 233 state siting permits.Experience supervising and mentoring teams of scientists and engineersHigh preference for experience supporting power and energy clients, including renewables and electric utilitiesValid driver’s license and ability to travel as neededEnvironmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. The Senior Project Manager will lead large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects across renewable energy, oil & gas, transmission, and other energy infrastructure sectors, as well as support public sector and water resources projects. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage teams across multiple disciplines and services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects, developing client relationships, mentoring staff, and contributing to strategic business development initiatives and regional growth objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and manage multiple concurrent, large-scale, complex, and multi-disciplinary projects involving various sectors, such as renewable energy, oil & gas, transmission, and energy infrastructure; public sector projects; and water resources projectsOversee all aspects of project execution including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC)Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations relevant to energy development in the western and southern U.S.Stay current with regional permitting trends and maintain a strong professional network with regulatory agencies, clients, and industry partnersPartner with regional and practice leadership to develop and execute growth strategies, including business development, proposal leadership, and staff development initiativesIdentify new opportunities and lead client pursuits through proposal preparation, scope development, presentations, and contract negotiationsServe as a primary client contact and trusted advisor, maintaining long-term relationships through proactive communication, strategic guidance, and reliable project deliveryCollaborate with ECT’s technical practices to coordinate interdisciplinary teams, facilitating alignment between environmental, engineering, and permitting functionsMentor and support project managers and junior staff through training, performance feedback, technical oversight, and career developmentLead internal QA/QC reviews of deliverables to promote technical excellence and compliance with ECT standardsSupport resource planning and project staffing coordination to ensure successful project execution and balanced team workloadsRepresent ECT at industry events, conferences, and professional associations to promote company visibility, client engagement, and business development opportunitiesEducation & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field required10+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with demonstrated success managing large, complex, multi-disciplinary projectsProven experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, transmission, and/or other energy, water, and/or public infrastructure permittingStrong technical knowledge in one or more resource areas, such as wetlands, wildlife, air quality, cultural resources, remediation, or related disciplinesDemonstrated experience in business development, client management, and project financial performance, including responsibility for project profitability and client growthProven ability to mentor staff, lead multidisciplinary project teams, and successfully manage complex project portfoliosEnvironmental Consulting & Technology, Inc.
