The Estimator will play a critical role in pre-construction and bidding phases by analyzing project plans, specifications, and site conditions to provide accurate cost and resource estimates. This position ensures that bids are realistic, competitive, and aligned with project requirements — supporting successful project delivery from the very beginning. Key Responsibilities Review project drawings, specifications, and engineering documents to fully understand project scope, materials, labor, and equipment requirements. Perform detailed take-offs and quantity calculations for materials, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor scopes. Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors; negotiate pricing and incorporate into estimate proposals. Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid packages — including breakdowns of direct and indirect costs, contingency allowances, and alternatives/options as needed. Present and explain cost estimates to project managers, owners or clients; highlight risk factors, assumptions, and cost-saving/value-engineering suggestions. Maintain and update historical cost data, vendor pricing databases, and unit-cost libraries for future estimates and project benchmarking. Support change-order evaluation and re-estimation when project scope shifts or additional work is requested. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, field personnel, and subcontractors to ensure accurate scope definition and preparedness for execution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related field — or equivalent field experience. 1+ years of experience estimating construction projects (commercial, industrial, heavy-civil or similar), including cost estimation, take-offs, and bid preparation. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
