Civil Helpers Southern Industrial is looking for Civil Helpers for a project in Clayton, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits/paid time off after 3-months. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Setting forms Tying rebar Spreading concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using float to bring water to surface and produce soft topping. Leveling, smoothing, and shaping surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straightedge and float or power screed. Finishing concrete surfaces, using power trowel, or wetting and rubbing concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish. Removing rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patching holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. Molding expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge. Producing rough concrete surface, using broom. Mixing cement, using hoe or concrete-mixing machine. Directing sub grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms. Following set procedures and standards. Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked. Detecting, recognizing, and responding to dangerous conditions or situations. Assisting with loading, unloading, and transporting material. Lifting and carrying objects of varying weights. Regular attendance is required. Significant travel may be required. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications include: Skilled in both written and verbal communication. Complete all safety and general job training as required by Southern Industrial. Observe Southern Industrial and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times. Physical demands include: Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions. Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
