We are looking for an Automotive Controller to join an Element Partners client organization—a thriving, family-owned automotive group in Matteson, IL. With $250M in annual revenue, this multi-brand dealership operates at high volume in a competitive market and has built a strong reputation for service excellence. In this role, you will lead the dealership's accounting function, oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, and help maintain strong financial controls across the business. You will work closely with dealership leadership to support day-to-day operations, month-end close, financial analysis, and decision-making that keeps the business running smoothly. Compensation for this role is $149,700.
What you’ll do
Lead day-to-day accounting operations for the dealership, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting workflow management
Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial records, reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
Own key month-end and year-end close activities, helping ensure deadlines are met and results are complete and accurate
Monitor accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance-related documentation to support consistent and reliable operations
Partner with dealership leadership to provide financial insight, identify trends, and support informed business decisions
Help maintain organized records across dealership accounting activities, including documentation needed for audits, reporting, and internal reviews
Support cash management, expense tracking, and account analysis to help leadership understand the dealership’s financial position
What we’re looking for
Experience in accounting, finance, or controllership responsibilities, ideally in an automotive dealership or similar operating environment
Reviews financial reporting and documentation carefully, flags issues, and maintains accurate records and reports
Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize competing work, and stay organized in a fast-paced dealership environment
Clear communication skills and the ability to work closely with leadership, operational teams, and external partners
Familiarity with dealership accounting, inventory-related accounting, or dealer management systems is a plus
Reviews financial information, identifies discrepancies, and follows through to resolution
Comfort owning both strategic financial oversight and detailed accounting work
