Manager, Maintenance & Facilities
Position Summary:
The Manager, Maintenance & Facilities leads all maintenance, repair, and facility operations in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment reliability, optimal facility conditions, and compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The position requires strategic planning, hands-on leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives to support complex and varied production requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime.Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diverse manufacturing equipment.Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance reliability and production efficiency.
Facilities Operations & Management
Oversee day-to-day operations of facilities to ensure smooth and safe operations.Manage service contracts cost-effectively while maintaining high service quality.Ensure staff consistently provides positive and prompt responses to internal requests.Maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.Plan and execute facility upgrades, renovations, and compliance initiatives.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
Develop, prepare, and explain the annual facility budget.Monitor maintenance and facilities expenditures, ensuring cost-effective operations.Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and safety metrics.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive innovation by developing and implementing facility and maintenance best practices.Support new product introductions and process changes from a maintenance and facility perspective.Apply Lean, TPM, and other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize operations.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop maintenance and facility staff.Allocate resources effectively to meet production needs in a high-mix environment.Promote a culture of safety, quality, operational excellence, and accountability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Procurement teams to align maintenance strategies with manufacturing requirements.Act as a key partner in problem-solving and operational planning.Perform additional duties as required to support operational and strategic objectives.
Qualifications:
EducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).Experience7+ years in maintenance, facilities, or manufacturing operations; experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing preferred.LeadershipMinimum 3 years leading a team of technicians in a 24/7 operationOther requirementsThis position may require access to ITAR-controlled technical data and services. Technical Expertise

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Works in both production, shop-floor, and office environments.Some overnight travel may be required for vendor, site, or training visits.Ability to work extended hours as needed to support production, maintenance, or facility objectives.Approximately 30% sitting, 60% standing/walking, and 10% bending, stooping, or climbing to access equipment and facilities.Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally; heavier lifting with assistance or appropriate equipment.Manual dexterity sufficient to handle tools, components, maintenance equipment, and measurement devices.Near visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected) for inspecting equipment, facility systems, and reading technical/engineering documents.Ability to hear, speak, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.Exposure to shop-floor and maintenance environments; proper use of PPE required.Fluency in English required; additional language skills a plus.
