    Job Title: Assistant Store Manager (Retail Warehouse Assistant Manager) -- Home Outlet

    Department: Home Outlet

    Reports To: Store Manager

    Compensation: $19-24/hr. plus commission; total comp. $40-55,000/yr.

    Location: Benton, Arkansas


    General Description Assist in managing a store engaged in selling discount building materials by performing the following duties:

    Essential Job Functions include the following, other activities may be assigned:

    Operate as a “Working Manager.” A Working Manager is an individual that gets involved in the daily activities and performs any job duties necessary to keep the store operating at maximum efficiency.

    Assist Store Manager in effectively training all partners at Surplus Warehouse location in order to maximize profitability, control costs, and offer the best possible customer service.

    Assist in interviewing and hiring the best candidates to properly staff the store and help ensure the continued integrity and excellence of our Surplus Warehouse division.

    Continually exceed high levels of profitability and customer service while making certain the store is following all safety regulations, guidelines, and operating procedures.

    Job Duties must perform the following duties, as designated by the Store Manager, in order to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:

    Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties.

    Coordinates, participates in, and supervises sales activity and sales promotion, merchandise display preparation and advertising, and taking inventories.

    Responsible for reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, preparing daily record of transactions for Accounting Department, and performing work of other partners, as needed.

    Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.

    Ensures that company assets are protected through proper compliance of security, credit, financial, safety, audit and other control procedures.

    Resolves customer complaints and answers inquiries.

    Locks and secures store.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Assists in supervision of 3-5 employees in the Home Outlet Store. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

    Position Summary

    The Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for our customers. This position is responsible for greeting and assisting customers, providing knowledgeable product recommendations, processing sales transactions, and maintaining store presentation standards. The CSR supports overall store operations while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.

    Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Experience & Sales

    - Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner in-store and by phone.

    - Provide information regarding product availability, pricing, and use.

    Store Operations

    General Description Drives truck with GVWR of 26001 lbs. or more, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties.

    Essential Job Functions include the following, other activities may be assigned:

    Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

    Load and unload building materials and deliver them to the customer in a timely and professional manner.

    Work as a team to meet desired production and distribution levels, while following all safety procedures and guidelines

    Job Duties must perform the following duties in order to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:

    Verifies load against customer’s ticket or shipping papers, drives truck to destination, and has customer sign ticket or prepares receipt upon completion of delivery.

    Prepares materials for shipment by pulling loads and ensuring loads are properly secured.

    Operates a forklift in order to transport items for storage and to pick up items from several locations for shipment.

    Positions items and uses bands and straps to secure cargo during transit.

    Prepares mileage sheets at end of day and takes proper care of all equipment.

    Calls store for emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
