    POSITION SUMMARY

    Perform vocational rehabilitation counseling services for adults with disabilities in a private non-profit.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date information including files, progress notes (within 30 days of current date), records and reports on persons being served in program. Maintain data in databases, files, and through change forms that is up-to-date and provide all reports or information as requested by DECI or funding sources.Responsible for the development, implementation, review, and monitoring of effective and adequate vocational goals. Suggest goals to outside sources where inadequate or no goals exist when needed.Collect, organize and analyze information about individuals through observation, interviews and other sources to appraise interests and aptitudes for vocational training and placement purposes. Fully participate in all service planning meetings for individuals receiving services, recommending vocational goals and working with sponsoring agencies to advocate for most appropriate services. Coordinate with sponsoring agencies to maximize vocational potential of each individual receiving service.Assist individuals in the program in movement toward competitive work through training and goal setting.Develop and implement job-training, behavior plans, and appropriate interventions to achieve vocational goals as defined in each individual’s plan. May include demonstrating and/or performing various types of work within DECI or at a competitive worksite. Perform job analysis and task analysis to enhance training of individuals with disabilities. Task analysis will be used to develop task sequences and train individuals on new jobs.Assist individuals in mastering skills and meeting production standards. Provide individual or group counseling and training/learning opportunities that promote good work ethic, work attitude and current work skills to assist individuals in achieving competitive success.Comply with all applicable rules, requests and regulations of DECI, CARF, DMA, CMA, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and DMH/DD/SAS.     · Provide assistance and guidance to the team during the implementation and coordination of new services.

    · Responsible for ensuring all documents, files, and reports meet compliance expectations with established standards, including ensuring document deadlines are met.

    · Responsible for 100% compliance for all programs and services through effective delegation and monitoring of the accountability of each staff member.

    · Hold weekly meetings with direct reports to maintain performance and communication within the program.

    · Assist with interviewing/hiring for vacant positions within the programs.

    · Act as a liaison between the staff in your assigned programs and the Program Services Director.

    · Train and monitor the professional development of each staff member.

    · Forge strategic partnerships with referral and funding agencies, stakeholders, advocates, legislators, and local community leaders in support of advocacy, education, and outreach objectives.

    · Work cooperatively and professionally with all internal and external contacts. Interface appropriately, foster and demonstrate goodwill with funding agencies, other rehab programs, and provider networks. Actively network with CRPs across the state for idea sharing, support, and to maintain a shared voice at the State level.

    · Support Director and Administration during all program-related audits, accreditation reviews, service audits, etc.

    · Exhibit loyalty toward the overall goals and mission of DECI. Present a consistently positive disposition in supporting, sharing, and carrying out Leadership and Executive team decisions.

    · Support and share the organizational vision. Responsible for developing and successfully implementing initiatives toward the achievement of the organizational goals.

    · Review paperwork (payroll forms, records, case notes) for accuracy of information and process.

    · Follow up with EIPD on any non-payments or performance issues/concerns.

    · Review and approve timesheets and PTO requests for assigned staff.

    · Keep the Director updated on staffing needs & performance issues.

    · Complete and conduct yearly Performance Reviews with assigned staff.

    · Lead disciplinary and performance improvement meetings as applicable, including initiating corrective actions and implementing/overseeing Performance Improvement Plans.

    · Conduct training for all DECI staff in your area of expertise as needed.

    · Assist with the development and implementation of interventions, manuals, training, and tools to assist staff in providing best practice vocational services to persons with disabilities.

    · Serve as Backup for the Program Services Director in their absence.

    · Designated backup for Job Placement staff members.

    · Provide counseling/guidance to individuals in services. Take temporary responsibility for caseloads as needed.

    Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS

    · Minimum four-year college degree in related field (psychology, rehabilitation, counseling, education, public administration, etc.) and a minimum of five years of successful supervisory experience in a related position; Master’s degree preferred. Managerial experience with services coordination required.

    · Problem-solving and organizational abilities as evidenced by past experience and high degree of judgment and ingenuity required in dealing with complex factors not easily evaluated.

    · Experience with, and commitment to the vocational rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities.

    Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or otherwise escort patients to correct locations within VA Medical Center in a safe and timely manner (includes taking expired patients to morgue) 100% of the time.Transport lab specimens, equipment, supplies, and patients’ belongings.Consistently verify patient I.D. information against patient dispatch information to ensure accurate transportation of patients to the appropriate areasMake all runs available during shift and all assigned by dispatcher. Average minimum of 30 trips per 8-hour shift, arriving at the destination in time for the patient’s appointment, or in time to meet the standard amount of time it takes to go to and return from any given destination within the VA Medical Center complex. Complete work assignments as efficiently as possible.Provide excellent customer service through established guest service techniques.Serve as a resource to patients, family members and other medical center personnel. Maintain courtesy and professional demeanor at all times.Operate equipment safely and efficiently for the benefit and comfort of the patient.
