JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to provide patient and provider support by using ultrasound imaging technologies to aid in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistently demonstrates with accuracy performance of routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, Color Doppler, Strain and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physicians following the PDC Echocardiography lab protocol, while maintaining the expected labor standard of 1 procedure per hour, including accurate preliminary reporting. Operate GES70, GEE95, Philips and other ultrasound equipment necessary to perform all required procedures. Appropriately uses echo reporting system, ISCV, Muse, and GE Case systems. Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and notify appropriate resources for repairs.Ability to thoroughly, and efficiently, evaluate pathology following current guidelines (American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American College of Cardiology (ACC), etc). Participate in all required aspects of quality improvement activities as needed for Joint Commission, and IAC-Echo Accreditations. This would include evaluation of procedure results for technical quality and accuracy; maintain appropriate logs, files, and records. Attends required staff meetings and ensures ensuring continuing education requirements met to support professional growth and certification. Perform pre arrival assessment of patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures. Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines Respond to patient questions about procedures and equipment prior to starting the imaging process.

Duke Urgent Care in Knightdale is a Group Practice with one location and seven physicians that cover four specialty areas of medicine. Duke urgent care doctors treat infants, children, and adults with minor injuries and illnesses when their primary care provider is unavailable, after hours, or when their condition is not serious and does not require emergency services. We also provide lab work and X-Rays on site.
What you will do:
Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated anatomical areas of interest. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines. Explain x-ray procedures to patients. Position patients for each anatomical view using positioning assistance devices and protective equipment as necessary. Monitor accessory equipment and assist the physician with fluoroscopic procedures and special radiographic procedures. Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriate paperwork for interpretation. Charge radiographic procedures in; able to modify orders per protocol. Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and collimation. Job Summary
The Duke Hospital Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP), includes both Nurse Practitioner (NP) and/or Physician Assistant (PA), provides direct patient care services for critically ill pediatric patients aged 0-21 with acute, complex, critical, and chronic illness across a variety of care settings. It is appropriate for the APP to provide care for an aging pediatric patient beyond the age of 21 with a pediatric condition for a limited period of time. Pediatric Critical Care medicine APPs will care for patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU), Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care unit (PCICU), and Pediatric Progressive Care Unit (PPCU). In addition, APPs will provide critical care management on the Rapid Response and Code blue teams.
Utilizing acquired knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, the PCCM APP exercises independent decision-making in assessing, diagnosing, and developing the plan of care for patients on the PCCM service. In collaboration and consultation with the supervising physician, the PCCM APP contributes to excellence in patient care. As an advanced practice provider, the PCCM APP is additionally involved in education, consultation, research, and leadership throughout the Duke Health System, organization, and profession.
