    How You'll Make an ImpactWe are seeking an individual that shares our core value of "creating a healthy urban forest for our future" and is looking for an opportunity to bring that core value to communities large and small. This position is available for an individual who wants to help grow one of the leading urban forestry teams in the country and promote healthy and mature trees by providing expert arboriculture knowledge and urban forestry principles. Relevant experience for this position could include, but is not limited to, a consulting urban forester or arborist, urban forestry planner, or municipal arborist.
    This position will be based out of our Pasadena office and can accommodate a hybrid work schedule. The position will require approximately 20% travel for meetings, presentations, and community events.
    Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead the preparation of urban forest management plans for municipal and other clients that deliver an implementable program towards a sustainable urban forest. Coordinate project team members by assigning tasks and monitoring workloads to meet project deadlines and deliverables. Maintain client relationships through consistent communication, facilitating meetings, and preparation of presentations. Write chapters of urban forest management plans including urban forest best management practices, municipal budget and work performance, tree inventory sustainability assessments, application of canopy cover studies, community engagement, and ordinances and policies. Maintain and track project budgets and prepare monthly invoices. Review and edit work of team members. Develop goals and strategies with the assistance of the Urban Forestry group leader to continue to grow the urban forestry practice through business development and marketing. Prepare proposals, attend meetings and interviews, and represent Dudek's urban forestry practice as part of our ongoing business development. Minimum QualificationsInternational Society of Arboriculture certified arborist. An understanding of the components needed to develop an urban forest management plan, including data sources, urban forest sustainability principles, climate change research, tree maintenance practices, ISA standards, and financing. Proven ability to build partnerships and manage relationships that lead to the successful completion of projects and business growth. Bachelor's degree or higher. Candidate must have excellent leadership, organization and problem-solving skills to facilitate successful project teams and on-time project delivery to clients. Candidate must have excellent analytical and technical writing skills at a professional level. Candidate must demonstrate professional communication skills, both written and oral. If selected for an interview, candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample. Candidate will be required to occasionally travel from their home office to other portions of the region in which they live, and beyond, as projects dictate.     About The Job
    Dudek is seeking temporary environmental technicians to conduct watercraft inspections, watercraft decontamination services, documentation, reporting, on-site surveys, customer service, outreach and education, and interaction with the public and partners of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) and California State Parks. Work will be conducted in the field at DWR locations at Lake Oroville, CA in Butte County. Watercraft inspectors will conduct outreach and education for each boater and will physically and visually inspect all watercraft for aquatic invasive species and assess risk in accordance with control guidance and according to established protocol. Training will be provided by Dudek. Inspectors will be required to decontaminate higher risk vessels to remove the biological risk of infestation. The number of hours will be dependent on project needs and does not guarantee 40 hours per week. This project is slated to end in September, but has the possibility to go through the end of 2026.

    We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, creative, and detail-oriented senior environmental planning professional interested in joining our CEQA/NEPA Team. The individual chosen for the position will work collaboratively with Dudek's environmental team in northern and southern California on a wide variety of projects in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, residential, commercial and industrial development, policy evaluation and mitigation planning.     We are currently seeking a full-time, self-motivated individual with proven professional experience in ecological restoration to join our Habitat Restoration Team.     Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):  Lead the development of written restoration planning and design documents including Habitat Mitigation and Monitoring Plans and Conceptual Restoration Plans.Lead and conduct field work associated with site assessments and long-term biological monitoring of mitigation/restoration sites.Collect field data utilizing point intercept transect, quadrat, relevé, and other sampling methodologies.Conduct statistical analysis of collected data sets.Prepare written technical reports including site assessments and annual monitoring reports for habitat restoration projects.Perform observations of restoration implementation/construction and prepare punch list field reports for projects.Lead design and planning for mitigation, revegetation, and restoration projects.Interpret habitat assessments, vegetation mapping, and other general biological resources surveys and report documents.Manage projects including project workflow, budget tracking, financial performance, sub-consultant coordination, etc.Draft scopes and costs for proposal efforts. Assist with resource agency permitting.Coordinate with in-house biologists, restoration ecologists, landscape architects and engineers. Conduct habitat assessments, rare plant surveys, vegetation mapping, jurisdictional delineations, and other general biological survey assignments.Minimum RequirementsB.A. or B.S. in Restoration Ecology, Environmental Science, Earth System Science, Biology, Landscape Architecture, or other applicable environmental field with strong ecological background.4-10 years of experience in habitat restoration planning and implementation.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to draft and edit technical documents.Able to conduct strenuous field work in hot weather (over 100 F) and in steep terrain conditions.     Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):  Lead the development of written restoration planning and design documents including Habitat Mitigation and Monitoring Plans and Conceptual Restoration Plans.Lead and conduct field work associated with site assessments and long-term biological monitoring of mitigation/restoration sites.Collect field data utilizing point intercept transect, quadrat, relevé, and other sampling methodologies.Conduct statistical analysis of collected data sets.Prepare written technical reports including site assessments and annual monitoring reports for habitat restoration projects.Perform observations of restoration implementation/construction and prepare punch list field reports for projects.Lead design and planning for mitigation, revegetation, and restoration projects.Interpret habitat assessments, vegetation mapping, and other general biological resources surveys and report documents.Manage projects including project workflow, budget tracking, financial performance, sub-consultant coordination, etc.Draft scopes and costs for proposal efforts. Assist with resource agency permitting.Coordinate with in-house biologists, restoration ecologists, landscape architects and engineers. Conduct habitat assessments, rare plant surveys, vegetation mapping, jurisdictional delineations, and other general biological survey assignments.Minimum RequirementsB.A. or B.S. in Restoration Ecology, Environmental Science, Earth System Science, Biology, Landscape Architecture, or other applicable environmental field with strong ecological background.4-10 years of experience in habitat restoration planning and implementation.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to draft and edit technical documents.Able to conduct strenuous field work in hot weather (over 100 F) and in steep terrain conditions. Work may involve assignments in remote locations with overnight stays and working individually.License to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California.Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment* As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.

    Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: wetlands restoration, coastal nature-based design, sensitive species habitat restoration, rare plant species restoration, restoration design (landscape architecture), restoration engineering, invasive species management and pesticide application (Pest Control Advisor), land management planning and implementation, or mitigation banking. Ability to act independently in the development of new projects and/or lead business development efforts in collaboration with the Habitat Restoration Practice Director.Ability to provide QA/QC technical review of habitat restoration documents based on informed expertise and project experience.Experience with Resource Agency coordination related to mitigation projects.In depth knowledge of local ecology, plant communities, hydrology, soils, and native and non-native plant species.Fluency in restoration concepts and ecological processes.Experience and knowledge of the environmental policies and regulations which may require restoration work to be performed, and that may constrain various approaches to restoration design and implementation.Experience with mitigation banking and/or In-Lieu Fee programs.Excellent technical writing skills. Physical Requirements
