    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSeeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and detail-oriented Development & Marketing Specialist to join our team. The Development & Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Director of Development to develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies that will increase brand awareness and drive engagement. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including event planning and support for development initiatives, as well as data entry, management, and social media engagement. The successful candidate is a creative and proactive thinker, an excellent communicator, eager to learn and grow, allows for flexibility in priorities with their daily schedule, and demonstrates the ability to work independently while also thriving in a team environment.Areas of responsibilities /Duties                                                                                                                                                                           All responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance and direction of the direct supervisor or the development team, fostering a close working relationship with them.Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels.Manage social media channels and create engaging content.Coordinate outreach events, manage logistics, and oversee a team of volunteers.Assist with the production of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and press releases.Maintain and manage the database of volunteers, donors, and supporters, including data entry and updates.Assist the Director of Development with donor communications and outreach initiatives.Manage website updates to ensure content is current, engaging, and aligned with marketing strategies.Provide administrative support as required, including preparation of reports and presentations.Acts as DVS spokesperson and public advocate on domestic violence issues when appropriate.Other organization duties as assigned. Qualifications                                                                                                                                                                                                        High School DiplomaPositive attitude and willingness to learn.Reliable transportation and the ability to travel anywhere in Santa Barbara County.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Maybe required to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.*Desired Qualifications*Bilingual (English and Spanish) a PlusStrong organizational / time management skills1 + year of experience in non-profit work, outreach, volunteer management, or a related field.2 + years of experience in one or more areas: development, event management, administration, and social media content creation, marketing & graphics, or a related field.Experience with donor management software, particularly Donor Perfect.College Degree Preferred.Photography skills for capturing events and creating visual content.Proficient in Microsoft Office and marketing automation software. Working conditions Position is In-Person and will be based in the Santa Barbara administrative office. This is a Full-Time position, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday (occasional nights and weekends).Physical requirements                                                                                                                                                                                           In the course of performing this job, the incumbent will typically spend time sitting, walking, standing, listening/speaking, writing and operating a personal computer. They will be required to drive an automobile to get to and from the different DVS property sites or events, Incumbent will be expected to lift and carry various office and maintenance items up to 40 lbs. on an occasional basis.   • Facilities Assistant

    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary    
    The Facilities Assistant will work directly under the supervision of the Facilities Director and be collectively responsible for keeping our (3) facilities operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. This position will be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around any of our (3) facilities. Must be willing to be available for after hour emergencies. Areas of responsibilities / Duties    •    Light Grounds Maintenance
    •    Replacing lightbulbs and other light electrical work as needed
    •    Light Plumbing (sinks, toilets, etc.)
    •    Minor repair and maintenance (air filter management)
    •    Performs electrical maintenance and repairs to equipment
    •    Operate and maintain a variety of maintenance associated power tools
    •    Collect and dispose of all litter, trash and debris on grounds, streets and parking lots
    •    Installing appliances in offices and equipment in facilities
    •    Keep accurate records as necessary for preventative maintenance measures
    •    Perform other related duties as requiredSome tasks may include but not limited to:•    Performing routine maintenance around the buildings such as fixing, windows, screens, doors or wall repairs
    •    Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
    •    Monitoring the building equipment in order to keep the facilities functioning properly
    •    Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as inspections
    •    Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
    •    Painting when necessary 
    •    Assisting other staff when needed
     Qualifications    •    High School Diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
    •    Must be a steady, reliable worker.
    •    Must be able to speak, read and write English.
    •    Bilingual a plus & desired but not required (Spanish).
    •    Must pass background check.
    •    Must have valid state Driver's license with clean driving record.
    •    Own a reliable vehicle.
    •    Own Basic Home repair/construction tools.
    •    Basic knowledge of home repairs/plumbing/painting/basic electrical.
    •    Be a proactive self-starter but also a team player.
    •    Adaptability is essential; demonstrate the ability to work independently, think creatively, and remain open to continuous learning
    •    Ability to travel between Santa Barbara – Santa Maria as needed.
     
     Working conditions    Position will be based in Santa Barbara. Travel as needed to all shelter locations in Santa Barbara County, as well as to other meetings/functions that will further the goals and responsibilities of the position. During training, work schedule will be that of the facilities Director. After training is completed, Facilities Director will determine work schedule, a possible alternating Saturday schedule may be scheduled as needed. May be called for after hour emergencies.
    Physical requirements    In the course of performing this job, the incumbent will typically spend time sitting, walking, standing, listening/speaking, some writing and operating a personal computer. They will be required to drive an automobile to get to and from the different DVS property sites. Incumbent will be expected to lift and carry various office and maintenance items up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.   • Client Advocate (South County)

    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary
    The Client Advocate provides direct services for resident and non-resident clients according to their unique
    needs. These services include crisis line coverage and intervention, response to 911 domestic violence calls with
    law enforcement and medical personnel, immediate and ongoing services to victims and children. Other duties
    include intake interviews, assessments, and case management along with advocacy, referrals, and other
    appropriate services. Must be bilingual (Spanish) and complete 40-hour Domestic Violence Training prior to assuming duties of this
    position.
    Areas of responsibilities / Duties
    • Respond to domestic violence calls to provide support, information, and referrals to domestic violence
    victims and their children. Provide advocacy services to help meet victims’ and children's needs for safety,
    food and shelter, medical attention, legal and social services.
    • Provide direct services to residents and non-residents according to DVS's philosophy and policies. These
    services include but are not limited to: crisis line coverage, conducting eligibility and intake interviews,
    performing client assessments, assisting clients in creating and achieving a goal plan for self-sufficiency
    (covering areas such as housing, income source, legal and medical needs), advocating on behalf of clients with
    other agencies, providing appropriate referrals, accompanying clients to appointments as needed, and providing support to clients.
    • Keep accurate records as necessary for case management and statistical documentation.
    • This position requires a flexible schedule including working night shifts. Must be available for nights and
    weekends and participate in cooperation with other staff in providing shift "back-up" when necessary and in
    maintaining the good order, cleanliness, and security of the shelter.
    • Acts as DVS spokesperson and public advocate on domestic violence issues when appropriate.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • High school diploma
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Ability to work well with others and as part of a team.
    • Interest in the needs and concerns of domestic violence victims and their children.
    • Must have Reliable Transportation, have a valid CA driver’s license, and a good driving record• Positive Attitude and willingness to learn

    • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or in the crisis intervention field.

    on call hours and weekends Director of Programs will determine final work schedule.
    Physical requirements
    In the course of performing this job, the incumbent will typically spend time sitting, walking, standing,
    listening/speaking, some writing and operating a personal computer. They will be required to drive an
    automobile to get to and from the different DVS property sites, law enforcement/ medical calls and events.
    Incumbent will be expected to lift and carry various office and maintenance items up to 30 lbs. on an
    occasional basis. Reasonable accommodations may be arranged to enable individuals with disabilities to
    perform essential duties of the job.
