Dobbs Equipment is seeking a Yard Specialist. This position is responsible for assisting in the efficiency and security of daily yard or branch activity. The position requires basic knowledge of heavy machinery to conduct initial inspection of equipment, and record information such as fuel. The ability to work outside during long periods of time for our customers will be essential to complete the needs of our customers. Managing associated equipment paperwork such as transfer attachments and other related equipment paperwork per agreements is an essential function of this role.

Invoices will call documents and verifies billing to work orders.Notifies customers when parts are received and ready for pickup via telephone.Delivers parts and documentation to service department personnel or places in the “will call” holding area.Matches and files packing slip and purchase order documentation.Ensures all miscellaneous vendor receipts are matched to a “Purchase Order” and filed in the correct vendor file.Pulls parts from assigned warehouse locations and places in “will call” area or prepares for shipping.Ships parts to various internal and external customers using automated software and various shipping forms.Locates parts for inventory stocking in correct warehouse locations or assigns new locations when required.Restocks display shelves with various products.Assists customers by retrieving parts from will call and moving them to the customer’s vehicle.Offloads delivery trucks utilizing diesel or propane operated forklifts.Monitors various reports to ensure inventory accuracy.Utilizes the business system to processes inquiries to access product part number information and assign or change warehouse locations.Assists in maintaining a neat and clean work environment, warehouse, and product display area.Fabricates hoses using hose cutting tools and a high-pressure drill press machine. This includes a professional and accurate interpretation of work order status to assist customers with timing and forecasting. Assists in scheduling shop assignments, field service work, and truck requirements for pickup and delivery of equipment.Assists in processing warranty claims. This position is responsible for assisting the Service Department with customer service needs, opening, and closing of work orders, proactive customer updates & communication, activities in pre-delivery of new equipment, repair, and reconditioning of the new and used trade-in equipment, daily operations of shop functions, field service function and delivery or vehicle functions. This job description does not include a complete listing of all the duties and functions of the position. Management reserves the right to assign other duties or projects as necessary.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
Handles phone calls, advises customers on technical problems, scheduling customer service needs, planning assigned jobs to work orders containing job information and specifying job instruction, identifying customer and machine.Assists in opening and closing of work orders to ensure timely closing to meet company goals.Assists in the appraisal and quotes of repair work coming into the shop and discusses with service manager the service required, both in parts and labor.Holds weekly open work order update calls with top 10-15 accounts. This includes a professional and accurate interpretation of work order status to assist customers with timing and forecasting. Assists in scheduling shop assignments, field service work, and truck requirements for pickup and delivery of equipment.Assists in processing warranty claims. Assists in establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet schedules and deadlines.Supervises all shop activities when Service Manager is away from Branch.All employees are expected to adhere to the safety policies of Dobbs Equipment and the clients for whom we work.Following the safety policies of Dobbs is a condition of employment and is everyone’s responsibility.Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Valid Drivers LicenseCustomer Service Experience Administrative Support experienceEducation, Skill, and/or Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent with one-year post high school education in heavy equipment or two years mechanical experience as a service technician.A 2-year degree and familiarity with industrial equipment, such as construction or forestry equipment is preferred.Organization and communication skills must be highly developed.Computer skills need to be broad based.Strong problem solving skillsLanguage Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, statistics, and geometry.Reasoning Ability:
