Job Summary In association with market leadership, is responsible for overseeing and monitoring DMC operations to ensure adherence with applicable statutorial, governance and regulatory rules/requirements and functions within and amongst the DMC, its hospitals, clinics, personnel, and other buildings. Manages and surveys the DMC regulatory readiness. Identifies and manages adherence to applicable governmental and other external agency requirements. Interacts with Sr. Management, Board of Trustees committees and others who are assigned responsibility in the areas of governance, conflict of interest, and medical staff operations. Assists the DMC hospitals in adhering to a variety of complex regulations relating to Board membership, Governance Committees, data security and privacy, Human Investigational Protocols, Patient Rights requirements and similar laws or rules as may be assigned from time to time. Provides direct support to DMC hospitals and corporate management by interpreting communications and regulatory rulings within the Manager’s assigned areas. Provides administrative and analytical support (including reporting on findings and implementing hospital or system wide process improvement initiatives) to the DMC within the areas of accreditation, licensure, E-learning, training, and other projects, as needed. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Operations Analysis, clinical or other related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Master’s degree in a related field preferred. 2. Three years of related experience with progressively more responsibilities in a health care system, hospital or other similar complex organization subject to intense external regulations, including direct involvement with senior management and outside entities regarding compliance with external standards. 3. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan preferred. 4. Job Summary Reports to the Director, DMC Nutrition Services conducts a nutrition assessment for all patients identified at nutritional risk to determine an appropriate plan of nutrition therapy that meets their assessed needs. A nutrition assessment includes evaluation of patients medical history, medication/herbal supplement history, anthropometric measurement, assessment of lab values, and diet history. The assessment also includes age specific factors, cultural and religious practices, and barriers to learning including physical, emotional, language, cognitive and motivation. Nutrition Care Plans specific to patients identified need are developed and include requirements for nutrients and nutrition education as appropriate. The assessment is completed using a multi-disciplinary approach with input from medical staff, nursing, speech language pathology, and other appropriate hospital personnel. Records nutrition assessment in patient records using DMC approved documentation. 1) Performs as a resource person for hospital personnel and medical staff regarding nutrition and participates in multidisciplinary rounds as well as providing education to various departments on nutrition related topics. 2) Researches and develops programs for dietetic interns. Participants in the education of dietetic interns by providing specialized and general nutrition instruction. 3) Participate in research projects and nutrition related programs. 4) Works with outside agencies in obtaining ongoing assistance for patients as appropriate. 5) Maintains hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, process improvement and provides input on improving processes and ways to provide high quality patient care. 6) Inventory and order office and tube feeding supplies. 7) Monitors and directs foodservice personnel to ensure provisions of optimal nutritional food service to patients are met; follows up with patient to ensure adherence to dietary regimen. 8) Formulates special recipes or plans to meet the specific needs of patients. 9) Promotes guest relations. Maintains good customer service providing assistance to customers in a quick and courteous manner. 10) Promotes the value of the DMC by demonstrating behaviors supportive of a commitment to quality, community welfare, respect and involvement, teamwork, open and effective communication, innovation and education, and efficient and effective resource use. Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree in Nutrition/Dietetics. 2. Dietetic Internship in healthcare setting or completion of a supervised practice program at a health care facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation, or combined with graduate or undergraduate studies. Job Summary The Communication Specialist will staff the Communication Center in the emergency department at Detroit Receiving Hospital The Communication Center is located in the emergency department at Detroit Receiving Hospital. The Communication Center will function to centralize and streamline communication between DMC hospital sites and the surrounding area. The Communication Center will house all outside communication equipment utilized to receive notification of critical patient transports, disasters, or mass casualty events. The Communication Center will accommodate the Personal Computer-Based Emergency Management (EM) System utilized during a major incident within Michigan for tracking patient movement from the scene to the hospital. The goal of the Communication Center is to expedite incoming patient transfers from external facilities and communicate to the ED staff patients condition prior to arrival. Job Duties of the Communication Specialist: 1. Expedites and coordinates all transfers from external facilities. 2. Coordinates and activates STEMI process, stroke team notification, major communicable disease response team, chempack team, decontamination team, all communications from outside agencies regarding acts of bio-terrorism/decontamination/code yellow; activates trauma pager. 3. Handles operations of all communication equipment utilized to receive notification of critical patients transports, disasters, or mass casualty events by responding to HEAR radio, Region 2 South 800 MHz HEMS radio, life-net RS 12 lead receiving stations, care point receiving monitor, UHF receiving station, telemetry, EM TRAX, EMResource. 4.
