    Job DescriptionJob Description

    Objective:

    We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to set up and operate CNC machinery for production runs of commercial cabinetry. Current equipment being used is Weeke point to point, BHX vertical CNC.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Produce projects with efficiency, quality and to our standards.Load and position proper material to be machined onto CNC.Plans machining by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.Understand proper tooling set up, measuring, and calibration.Select proper program(s) and tooling required for each operation.Monitor machinery and material to ensure compliance with quality standards and detect programming issues.Perform preventative maintenance to machinery in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.Properly label and stage machined parts for preparation of next operation.Stage material to load as efficiently as possible.Inspect parts for quality and finish.Call out errors in the programs, operations, tooling, or materials to the Plant Manager so they can address.Understand what tooling is available and notify Plant Manager if tooling breaks, needs sharpening, or needs to be ordered.Understand operational order of milling (crosscut before ripping, etc.)Develop an understanding as to how different materials machine. (I.E. Solid surface, hardwoods, softwoods, composite materials) Mill Captain will provide guidance.Understand the equipment’s capabilities and how to efficiently produce product.Follow machine established guidelines to insert and safely secure tooling.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Read and interpret shop drawings.Communicate effectively with management and coworkers to achieve company goals.Follow procedures and standardize practice to obtain maximum efficiency.Display awareness to maximize the utilization of materials and minimize waste.Maintain an awareness of the importance of Safety in the Workplace.Demonstrates outstanding punctuality and attendance.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ability to manage time and adjust priorities in high paced environment.Familiarization of different materials used in commercial cabinetry.Proficiency in woodworking techniques, machinery, and tools.Basic knowledge of cabinet assembly.Competent math and computer skills.Experience with Weeke CNCs a plus.3-5 years as a CNC Operator.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.Strong attention to detail and precision.Knowledge of wood types, finishes, and joinery methods.Excellent problem-solving skills.Safety-conscious mindset.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The ability to lift to 50 lbs. frequently and repeatedly.The ability to stand continuously for up to 5 hours at a time.Visual AcuityManual DexterityLifting, carrying, moving things, standing, reaching, crouching, kneeling.


    Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, and loud noises. Employees are always required to wear P.P.E. while on the manufacturing floor, including eye and ear protection at all times.

    Responsibilities:

    Read and understand technical drawings and interpret blue printsRead and understand Contract DrawingsUnderstand and execute verbal instruction in EnglishOperate all hand, power tools, and specialty wood working toolsTake field measure/resolve on-site installation issues as they ariseTravel to job sitesResponsible for maintaining highest levels of safety, quality and customer satisfactionsUnload, carry, and install cabinets for a complete shiftWork as a part of a team that requires equal input and work from each memberMaintain personal carpentry tools and others provided by DMA Custom Millwork

    Education and Experience:

    Position Overview

    The Microvellum Engineer is responsible for translating architectural drawings, design intent, and project specifications into accurate, production-ready shop drawings and CNC-ready data using Microvellum.

    This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are engineered efficiently, manufactured accurately, and installed successfully. The ideal candidate understands both design and production workflows and can bridge the gap between the office, shop, and field.


    Key Responsibilities

    Engineering & Shop Drawings

    Produce detailed shop drawings from architectural plans and project specificationsInterpret design intent and resolve constructability issuesEnsure drawings meet company standards, field conditions, and client expectationsCoordinate with Project Managers for submittal packages

    Microvellum Programming

    Create and modify Microvellum assemblies, libraries, and standardsGenerate cut lists, material reports, and CNC dataOptimize designs for efficient production and material usageMaintain and improve company-wide Microvellum standards

    Production Coordination

    Work closely with production team to ensure drawings are buildable and efficientAssist in troubleshooting fabrication issuesSupport implementation of new products, materials, and hardware

    Project Coordination

    Collaborate with Project Managers and Coordinators on:Submittals and revisionsRFIs and field adjustmentsIncorporate redlines and approvals into final production drawings

    Quality Control

    Verify accuracy of dimensions, materials, and hardware selectionsEnsure consistency between:Shop drawingsCNC outputField installation requirements


    Qualifications

    Required:

    2+ years of experience in millwork engineering, drafting, or cabinet designProficiency in MicrovellumStrong understanding of millwork construction methods and materialsAbility to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings

    Preferred:

    Experience with CNC manufacturing processesKnowledge of:AWI standardsVeneers, laminates, hardwoods, and hardware systemsFamiliarity with AutoCAD  Experience in commercial millwork

    Skills & Competencies
