    We are looking for an individual to meet an immediate need in our office, and to quickly become a valued member of our team. Teamwork and Patient / Customer Service are our goals! ***COMPETITIVE SALARY AND BENEFITS****

     

    Working Hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm, no overtime requirements

     

    Position purpose

    Schedule patients for office visit and procedure appointments. Check In and Check Out patient for their appointments in real time. Answer and document simple questions from patients and staff, documenting and sending messages to appropriate staff for higher level questions or concerns.

    In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:

    Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

    Maintain physicians’ schedules – scheduling office visits and procedures (may be done via phone or face-to-face)View patient visit notes, identifying problems &diagnosis listed and physician ordersAssist in patient registration and financial transactionsCheck In/Out patients for their visits with providersMay include recall schedulingAssist with high call volume when not performing other dutiesTake triage call messages for medical staffPerform other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent customer service skills are required (a must!)Experience working in a medical office is preferredAbility to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.Detail-orientedBasic understanding of healthcare plansBe able to read and understand medical benefits.Bilingual is a plus.

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent

    Experience: 2 years of prior medical scheduling is preferred

    Requirements for Level I Status:

    Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.Excess of 4 years’ experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.

     

    Performance Requirements:

    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficient technical (computer) skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize.Self-motivated with initiative.Strong sense of ethics.

     

    Equipment Operated: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Work Environment: This job operates in professional office environments.

    Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 15pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    ABOUT THIS POSITION:

    As a Certified Medical Assistant at DHAT, you are the engine that keeps the clinic running. You will partner directly with physicians, mid-level providers, schedulers, and fellow medical assistants to deliver an outstanding patient experience from check-in to checkout. You are the primary point of contact between patients and providers, and the glue that holds the care team together. We value experience, but we also welcome new graduates who are hungry to learn. On-site training is available for newly licensed CMAs.

     

     

    PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

    The Essential Job Functions are:

    Greet and prepare patients for their visit by escorting them to the exam roomInterview patients to obtain a current, accurate medical history, medication lists, allergies, and other relevant information; update the electronic health record (EHR) and document vital signs. Accurate documentation is criticalAssist with patient visits, including preparing exam rooms, accompanying providers during examinations, dispensing sample medications as authorized, and completing orders for new prescriptions, refills, and/or imaging ordersDocument clinical information (medications, allergies, procedure scheduling worksheets) accurately, in the proper location in the EMR, and in a timely mannerRoutinely assess and restock exam rooms on a weekly basis (and as needed) to maintain appropriate supply levelsMaintain inventory of medical supplies, linen and approved educational materials needed for patient care Schedule endoscopic procedures, diagnostic tests, and office visits per established protocols, including use of the EHRDocument and/or scan patient demographic, insurance information, and records into the GGastro EHRVerify insurance benefits and obtain necessary precertification when applicableCommunicate procedure information and patient instructions in a timely manner, including Rx preps as appropriateNotify the supervisor/administrator of instrument or procedural problems within established time framesReview cost estimates and financial responsibility with patientsHandles patient phone calls promptlly and document interactions in EHRHandle patient portal messages promptlly and document interactions in EHRWork collaboratively with physicians, mid-level providers, medical assistants, and all other members of the care team to optimize patient outcomes Assist in resolving patient, physician office, and departmental concerns or complaints in a timely and satisfactory mannerAll other duties as assigned

    Qualifications & Certifications:

    High School diploma or equivalent requiredAbility to communicate oral and written ideas and plan effectivelyKnowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding is requiredKnowledge of HIPAA rules and regulationsMicrosoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiencyMust demonstrate good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions. Refers situations beyond ability or function to proper personMust be a Licensed Healthcare Professional, i.e., Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Registered NurseKnowledge of GGastro EHR is a plus but not a requirement for hiring
