Objective
The Special Assets Officer is responsible for the day‑to‑day management, monitoring, and resolution of assigned criticized and classified loan relationships, under the direction of the Special Assets Manager. This role focuses on minimizing credit losses, maximizing recoveries, and returning credits to performing status where feasible, while ensuring full compliance with Dieterich Bank's loan policy, regulatory guidance, and internal procedures. The position serves as a primary execution and support role within the bank's special assets function and works closely with lending staff, credit administration, legal counsel, and borrowers.
Essential Duties:
Problem Loan and Portfolio Management Manage an assigned portfolio of criticized and classified loans, including commercial, agricultural, and consumer credits, consistent with the bank's policy and regulatory standards. Assist in identifying emerging problem credits through delinquency trends, covenant violations, collateral deterioration, or borrower financial stress. Participate in the development, execution, and monitoring of workout strategies designed to improve collectability, reduce risk, and maximize recovery. Loan Workouts, Restructurings, and Collections Assist in structuring and administering loan workouts, including extensions, renewals, modifications, forbearance agreements, restructurings, and exit strategies. Analyze borrower financial information, cash flow, collateral position, guarantor support, and repayment capacity to support workout recommendations. Prepare or assist with loan modification memoranda, workout summaries, and internal approval documentation. Monitor borrower compliance with workout terms, triggers, and performance benchmarks.Legal, Bankruptcy, and Recovery Activities Coordinate with internal and external legal counsel on foreclosure, replevin, repossession, bankruptcy, judgment enforcement, and other collection actions, as directed by the Special Assets Manager. Monitor loans subject to bankruptcy proceedings, assist with proof of claim preparation, reaffirmation agreements, and compliance with court requirements. Support collateral liquidation efforts, including coordination of appraisals, evaluations, inspections, auctions, and asset sales.OREO Support Assist in the management of Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) properties, including tracking valuations, expenses, insurance, taxes, maintenance, and disposition efforts. Support OREO acquisition and disposition documentation, approval tracking, and reporting in accordance with the bank's policy.Reporting and Credit Administration Assist with preparation of problem loan reports, criticized loan summaries, delinquency reports, and other internal or regulatory reporting as assigned. Maintain accurate and timely credit file documentation to support examiner, auditor, and internal review requirements. Provide updates to the Special Assets Manager regarding portfolio status, risks, and recommended actions.Collaboration and Support Work collaboratively with loan officers to transition credits into special assets and support resolution efforts. Participate in internal problem loan meetings and assist with examiner and loan review requests.Compliance and Risk Management Ensure all collection, workout, and recovery activities comply with Dieterich Bank's loan policy, regulatory guidance, and applicable state and federal laws. Apply consistent, fair, and ethical collection practices. Maintain strict confidentiality of borrower and bank information.Secondary Duties:

Dieterich Bank is looking for a friendly, customer-focused part-time Personal Banker to join our Effingham branch team. This position is ideal for someone seeking a consistent daytime schedule, with availability to work from 10am-3pm four days a week, plus a minimum of two Saturdays per month from 8am-12pm.
Personal Bankers play a vital role as they represent the face of Dieterich Bank within the communities we serve. This role is responsible for building customer relationships by assisting them to make informed choices, solve problems, and improve their financial well-being.

A day in the life of a Personal Banker:
Your priority is to maintain a fun, friendly, professional, and respectful environment as the customer experience is what makes Dieterich Bank different. In short, as a retail banker you will assist customers with new account set up, complete transactions for deposits and withdrawals, process payments, and cash checks. You will be a resource for online banking assistance, fraud related questions, and address change requests. Part of the role also involves selling and promoting our products and services. Confidentiality and resolving customer concerns are a must!
Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience working in a face-to-face customer service role preferably in bankingAssociate Degree in business or related field preferred Must be dependable and able to work Saturdays on rotation basisMust possess excellent communication skills. Consultative skills to identify a client's financial needs. In addition, must be able to communicate with customers well on a daily basis face-to-face or by telephone.Proficient in the use of technology (Microsoft Office, online banking, apps, etc.)Must demonstrate our core values of Integrity, Value, Service Excellence, & Teamwork.Ability to work well with others and in a team environment, and assist other departments as neededMaintain accuracy by remaining detail focused consistently, and have the ability to organize efficientlyBenefits of this job:
