    We are seeking an experienced and energetic Head Start AssistantTeacher to join our team! You will be responsible for encouraging children’s intellectual, psychological, and physical growth.     The Head Start Assistant Teacher assists the Head Start Teacher in providing effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning, assessment, evaluation and related research for children ages 3-5 years old. The Head Start Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Head Start Teacher in providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences, supervision of children assigned in the classroom, and providing a supportive and positive classroom climate, while ensuring the individual needs of the children are met as mandated by Head Start, federal, state and local standards.Requirements : Associate’s Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or related field, with a minimum of 15 college credit hours in early childhood education or a Bachelors in a related area with 30 ECE hours needed to qualify as a Teacher; 2+ years of early childhood education experience desirable; 1+ years of experience working with assigned age group desirable.Must meet annual physical requirements Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and experience with database and/or record-keeping software Computer literacy required; must be able to navigate basic computer functions, complete online training and communicate by email independently Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents such as policies and procedures Demonstrated understanding of child growth and development Ability to build rapport with children, parents and families.


    Responsibilities:

    Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growthCreate a fun and safe learning environmentDevelop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtimeEstablish and maintain positive relationships with students and parentsCommunicate with parents on students' growth and progressMaintain the health and safety of all students Responsible for assuring all program mandates and standards for excellence are met on a daily basis.Develop a curriculum and program: Child Care Directors work closely with the center's teachers and staff, creating learning plans or programs to meet state and federal requirements and parent's expectations.Oversee staff: Staff management is probably the most important task of an Assistant Child Care Director. They must interview, hire, and train staff, making sure that all background and fingerprint checks have been conducted.Manage facilities: The Child Care Assistant Director must make sure that the facility is safe and well-stocked. That includes checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards, and ensuring the facility is always clean and orderly.Market the facility: There is much competition between daycare facilities, so the Child Care Assistant Director must have a marketing plan to promote awareness of the facility and its services.Meeting up with parents and teachers: A Child Care Assistant Director will meet with parents and teachers to keep parents up-to-date on their child's development and progress, including discussing ways to address any learning or behavioral issues.
