Position Highlights As a Staff Anesthesiologist at Martinsburg VA Medical Center, you will provide comprehensive perioperative medical care, anesthesia services, pain management, and critical care support to our Veteran population. Responsibilities include: * Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and anesthesia risk evaluations * Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies related to anesthetic management * Obtain informed consent and optimize patients for surgery and procedures * Administer general, regional, neuraxial, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and sedation services * Manage airways, including advanced airway procedures and intubation * Monitor physiologic parameters and adjust anesthetic plans throughout procedures * Perform invasive monitoring, including arterial and central venous catheter placement * Manage intraoperative fluid, electrolyte, and blood product therapy * Provide post-anesthesia care in PACU and ICU settings * Perform acute and chronic pain evaluations and management * Administer multimodal analgesia, epidural therapy, peripheral nerve blocks, and PCA management * Provide anesthesia services outside the operating room, including procedural suites, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and cardiac catheterization laboratories * Lead and participate in perioperative emergency response and resuscitation efforts * Provide ventilatory and hemodynamic support for critically ill patients * Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs, residents, and medical students * Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives This position offers the opportunity to practice high-quality anesthesia in a collegial environment where physicians can focus on patient outcomes while enjoying exceptional professional support.
