    The associate dentist provides oral health care to patients

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Patient management.

    • Diagnose and treat patients to achieve excellent results within estimated treatment time with maximum attention to patient comfort.

    • Deliver the highest quality of care to all patients.

    • Deliver treatment plans to patients along with an informed consent/refusal discussion surrounding treatment options.

    • Maintain proper patient treatment records. Carefully document all medications, diagnoses, treatments and consultations.

    • Ensure all OSHA, Dental Board, and practice policies and procedures are properly followed.

    Practice Promotion:

    • Understand the practice mission, long-term business plan and short-term goals.

    • Develop specific approaches to attract a constant influx of new patients and retain patients of record.

    • Develop and maintain a relationship with practitioners in the community.

    Professional Requirements:

    • Must have graduated from an ADA-accredited dental school.

    • Must be licensed to practice in California and have met all applicable state requirements.

    • Must have a minimum of two years of clinical practice experience.

    Communication:

    • Ability to discuss dental needs with patients or patients’ representatives in an objective and pleasant manner.

    • Ability to communicate clearly with dental staff on regarding patient treatment plans.

    • Ability to work with staff and convey requirements in a professional style.

    Summary of Essential Job Functions:

     

    ·        Work with office manager to develop and/or understand the practice’s financial and payment policies.

    ·        Conduct financial consultations with all new and existing patients when new treatment plans are presented.

    ·        Ensure all patients have a current financial consent form signed and financial agreement signed with each new treatment plan presented.

    ·        Maintain the payment options and policies for patients to uphold the practice’s financial integrity.

    ·        Understand the practice’s policy on working with dental benefit plans and be prepared to educate patients on their dental benefits.

    ·        Submit dental benefit claims (if this is the practice’s policy in working with plans).

    ·        RTD/NOA / Labels expiration and knowledge of denial codes

    ·        Know the process of submitting claims with each dental benefit plan and submit as many claims electronically as possible.

    ·        Oversee and track dental benefit plan accounts receivable and follow up on claims regularly to ensure timely payment.

    ·        Communicate with all outside and third-party financing companies offered to patients and educate patients on available outside financing options.

    ·        patient accounts receivable and track outstanding balances to ensure timely payment.

    ·        practice’s collections protocol for all outstanding balances.

    ·        Remind all staff who collect or post payments on the practice’s financial protocols.

    ·        Coordinate and communicate daily with the scheduling coordinator and treatment coordinator to identify patients on the schedule any outstanding balances or financial consultation need.

    ·        Verify the breakdown of dental benefits for all new patients prior to the new patient exam and consultation.

    ·        Ensure that patient records are accurate and complete, and that patient confidentiality is strictly maintained.

    ·        Perform other tasks as assigned by the office managers and doctor(s).

    ·        Sort, organize and distribute mail.

    ·        Prepare and mail thank-you notes to patients and referring practitioners.

    ·        Ensure all compliance postings are current and easily available for patients.

    ·        Ensure patients have updated all necessary paperwork prior to treatment.

    ·        Collect payments from patients at the time of treatment.

    ·        Schedule patient appointments.

    ·        Monitor patient referrals to other practitioners.

    ·        Submit information for preauthorization of benefits for proposed treatment.

    ·        Ensure that correct coding is used to designate the diagnoses and procedures performed.

    ·        Follow up with insurance claims and delinquent accounts.

    ·        Maintain and monitor consents Medical histories and or medial release Noa and preaths.

    ·        Provide patient education materials.

    ·        Maintain an appropriate office environment.

    ·        Other duties as assigned

    ·        Estimates CRA Consents signatures

    ·        Maintain regular, predictable attendance.

     

    Minimum Requirements:

    ·        Proficient in computer software system. Open dental /Patterson /Claim Connect/NEA

    ·        Excellent communication skills.

    ·        Exceptional organizational skills.

    ·        Basic accounting understanding ERA and other reports.

    ·        Ability to multitask and work with interruptions.

    ·        Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with patients and demonstrate a friendly attitude, even while under pressure or when patients are upset.

    ·        Ability to uphold financial policies while approaching patients in a friendly and supportive manner.

    ·        Ability to conduct detailed work according to the practice’s established formats and policies.

    ·        Ability to utilize the practice’s financial protocols.

    ·        Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining basic life support (CPR) certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
