You’ll scan work orders, prep your welding gear, and move from inspection to repair—making sure every car that leaves your bay is reliable and compliant. By afternoon, you’re troubleshooting a stubborn mechanical issue with a teammate, wrapping up with clean documentation so the next shift knows exactly what’s been done.
What You’ll TackleExecute structural and component welding on railcars using appropriate processes and procedures.Inspect railcar systems for wear, damage, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Pinpoint mechanical faults and complete repairs to restore peak function.Partner with peers and leads to diagnose complex issues and resolve them efficiently.Capture clear, accurate maintenance and repair records for every job.Work within established safety practices and facility rules at all times.Support the onboarding of new teammates by demonstrating welding and mechanical best practices.What You BringHigh school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in welding or mechanics is a plus.Hands-on experience as a welder or mechanic—rail industry exposure preferred.Proficiency with welding methods and familiarity with mechanical systems on rolling stock.Ability to read and apply blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.Sharp troubleshooting ability and strong attention to detail.Clear communicator who collaborates well on a team.Flexibility to work varying hours and overtime as operations require.Location
