    Position: Field Service Engineer

    Location: Libertyville, IL - onsite and travel to customer sites across the US

     

    Description: The Field Service Engineer is an entry position into the world of Water Treatment. This role is primarily responsible for start-ups, trouble-shooting, process optimization, repairs and training on Culligan Commercial and Industrial water treatment systems. Work is performed in a wide range of industries from data centers, manufacturing facilities, food & beverage, hospitals, etc... You will become a water expert and use a wide range of technical skills (mechanical, electrical, programming) along with clear communication, a professional demeanor and attention to detail. This role builds a solid foundation for a long-term career in the water industry, that can lead to other opportunities in Project Management, Application Engineering, Project Engineering, Sales and so on. Travel exceeding 50% may be required for short periods to meet customer needs, including occasional international travel.

    Responsibilities:

    Perform system checkouts, assist with system startups, and verify proper equipment operation.Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and programming issues.Train customers on system operation, maintenance, and performance adjustments.Conduct water analyses, interpret results, conduct field testing to verify system performance and water quality.Complete detailed service reports and documentation accurately and on time.Maintain and calibrate test instruments and equipment.Support the sales and engineering teams with site assessments and technical insights.Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor in all customer interactions.Organize and maintain tools, spare parts, and vehicle inventory.Respond to emergency service calls, including occasional after-hours or weekend work.Comply with company and customer site safety requirements.Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

     

    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering preferred); equivalent experience considered.Strong mechanical aptitude required able to learn electrical systems and programming PLC/VFD/HMI devices.Will consider all experience levels, including new graduates; willing to train the right candidate.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs unassisted.Comfortable working in varying environmental and site conditions.Willingness to travel up to 50% or more, including internationally.

    Target Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 salary a year with the opportunity for eligible employees to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan.     Key Responsibilities

    ·       Address employee relations and performance matters in partnership with HR while promoting accountability, collaboration, and strong communication routines.

    ·       Support operational growth initiatives, including new product introductions, process changes, capacity expansions, automation, and production readiness efforts.

    ·       Ensure safety, quality, and compliance by reinforcing safe behaviors, regulatory expectations, proactive risk identification, product specifications, and employee ownership of safety and quality.

     

    Qualifications

    ·       5+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in CPG, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated environments

    ·       Proven ability to lead manufacturing operations, supervisors, production teams, and cross-functional partners in a fast-paced environment

    ·       Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, quality standards, labor planning, cost management, and industry best practices

    ·       Demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiency, continuous improvement, employee engagement, accountability, and change management

    ·       Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and people leadership skills

    ·       Proficiency with Excel, PowerBI, ERP/MRP/MES/WMS (preferred SAP), and manufacturing performance reporting systems

    ·       Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred

    ·       Ability to work on site 5 days/week, with availability starting no later than 6:00 a.m. and departing no sooner than 3:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities:

    §  Develop and qualify new business opportunities for custom-engineered water treatment systems (Pretreatment, filtration, ion-exchange, membranes, electro-chlorination, e.g.)

    §  Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver tailored technical proposals and system solutions.

    §  Conduct site visits and system audits to gather operational data and identify performance improvement opportunities.

    §  Own the full sales cycle: from lead generation through technical scoping, proposal development, contract negotiation, execution oversight, and deployment.

    §  Perform advanced process calculations (reaction kinetics, membrane projections, evaporative modeling, mass/energy balances, e.g.)

    Requirements:

    ·       Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering preferred. Will consider Civil, Industrial, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field such as chemistry.

    ·       Minimum 10 years industry experience with 5+ years in direct technical sales or application engineering related to water treatment or industrial processes. Will consider strong consultant industry candidates with exemplary customer-facing skills.

    ·       Strong foundation in process engineering and industrial water systems (evaporative cooling, hydronics, membrane separation, etc.) Familiarity with projection tools, PFD/P&ID review, and willingness to learn CAD or simulation software.

    Description: This position is responsible for the electrical assembly, testing, and calibration of electrical products such as sensors, control panels, and associated components used for manufacturing systems. Must be able to follow blueprints, bill of materials, schematics, and/or piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).     Ability to assemble system control panels, Point to point wiring, labelling to panels, connectivity testing.Complete field wiring of all sorts of industrial water systems, using various wiring techniques and voltages.Use of testing instrumentation equipment.Seamlessly transition from a variety of work centers, interfacing with all of the production assemblers, and able to engage with and discuss schematics with engineers.Collaborate with electrical engineering team.Troubleshoot wiring issues related to design and/or system limitations.Work with voltages ranging from 5VDC through 570VAC 3 phase.
