Job Summary:
Crystal Stairs, Inc., a California nonprofit corporation dedicated to child care development for working low-income families, is looking for a dedicated, mission-driven staff counsel who along with the Chief Compliance Officer/General Counsel serves as internal legal counsel to Crystal Stairs.
Along with the Chief Compliance Officer & General Counsel, the Staff Counsel serves as the internal legal counsel to Crystal Stairs, representing the non-profit corporation in the areas of labor and employment, contract, corporate, property, and intellectual property. The Staff Counsel will have the primary responsibility for contract matters including drafting, reviewing, negotiating and training. Staff Counsel will also be responsible for maintaining a contract database to track the life cycle of contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, review and negotiate (if applicable) a wide variety of contractual-related documents including, but not limited to, funding contracts, grants, vendor contracts, subcontracts, leases, releases, MOUs, programmatic agreements, work orders, amendments, and termination notices. Manage a contract management system to regulate the contract process workflow. Ensure compliance with Crystal Stairs’ policies and procedures, County, state, and federal laws, and other applicable rules and regulations. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and training. With general guidance from the General Counsel, conduct research and provide advice and counsel to Crystal Stairs with respect to the legal areas of real estate, labor and employment, corporate and corporate governance, property, and intellectual property. Assist with corporate flings, insurance applications and requests, and board governance matters as assigned by supervisor. Other duties and special projects assigned by supervisor.Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Member of the California Bar in good standing; Law degree from a nationally accredited law school 2 to 4 years of experience as a practicing attorney; one year of experience working in-house as corporate counsel preferred One year of solid experience drafting and reviewing contracts required Knowledge of contract law principles required Knowledge of contract management systems or software preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Exhibit resourcefulness, self-confidence, and sound decision-making Demonstrate tolerance for a high degree of ambiguity Maintain “approachability” as an advisor; use tact and diplomacy in communicating with all levels of the Agency. Operations Supervisor

What We're Looking For:
Crystal Stairs is seeking qualified candidates for the Operations Supervisor position. Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Operations Supervisor leads and supervises Operations department staff to perform a wide range of services related to operations and facilities management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise Operations office personnel.Perform ongoing evaluation of administrative and operations services for Crystal Stairs' programs and staff.Provide oversight for administrative functions, including but not limited to: facilities maintenance, health and safety regulations, supply ordering and distribution, asset recording and monitoring, mail processing, meeting set ups, off site storage, vehicle maintenance, and acquiring, recording, and disbursing as needed Agency supplied equipment, copy services, safety and security, translation services and procedures.Identify, evaluate, and recommend new services and procedures.Negotiate contracts with vendors while following funding guidelines in procuring goods and services.Develop, write, implement, update, and maintain standard operating procedures.Participate in intra-departmental projects as needed.Train staff in facilities related matters and conduct presentations.Set an example for all personnel through the effective planning and execution of daily tasks and through the clear, considerate communications with internal clients and vendors.On as needed basis, respond to urgent after hours and weekend facilities concerns.Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

Payable Support Specialist

What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a Payable Support Specialist, under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Accounting, the Payable Support Specialist will be responsible for ensuring childcare providers are paid timely and accurately and in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures. Additionally, the Payable Support Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all accounts payable invoices are processed, posted and paid promptly according to the agreed payment terms and in accordance with the agency's financial policies and internal controls ensuing proper accounting of operating expenses. Additional responsibilities will include vendor management, maintaining contract payment schedules, performing year end closing tasks and supporting other reporting requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process all provider payments exported from client databases and other data sources accurately and timely.Accurately reconcile and process all payment adjustments and deductions including garnishment orders from IRS, FTB and other garnishing agencies.Perform research to define and resolve problems related to payments.Assist with year-end 1099 processing for childcare providers and accounts payable vendors.Review, process and monitor garnishment orders from IRS, FTB and other garnishing agencies.Reissue payments for stop payment requests, stale dated check reimbursements and returned ACH payments.Process and monitor forged endorsement requests submitted by childcare providers.Cover provider payment calling queue for check verifications and other payment related inquires.Assist with the preparation of Funder invoices and perform related reconciliation tasks.Perform full cycle accounts payable including examining supporting documentation for accuracy, proper authorization, correct cost center, and appropriate allocation.Process new vendors in accounting software ensuring W9 and other supporting documentation are complete and accurate.Maintain schedule of recurring payables ensuring all payments are issued timely, accurately.Maintain schedule of contractor payments ensuring payments do not exceed contractual obligations.Assist with month, quarter and year end closing tasks including, reconciling accounts payable accounts, preparing accruals and assisting with processing cost allocations.Prepare quarterly use tax returns for filing.Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor & Senior Management.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business from an accredited university; extensive related work experience in Accounting/Financial Analysis may be substituted for college level education. Minimum 3 years' experience required. Strong Accounting background in Accounts Payable and General Ledger; experience in a government-funded non-profit environment a plus.Must have strong knowledge of Financial Accounting and Banking Principles; knowledge in preparing various statistical reports; strong computer skills with proficiency in computerized accounting system and Excel reports required; non-profit accounting experience a plus.Total Package of Benefits

Operations Manager

What We're Looking For:
Crystal Stairs is seeking qualified candidates for the Operations Manager position. Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Operations Manager leads and manages the operations and purchasing departments, where staff performs a wide range of services related to operations, facilities management and procurement. The Operations Manager also manages and administers the lease portfolio including landlord/tenant concerns for Crystal Stairs, Inc. and service area locations. Conducts inspections of all properties on a regular basis to ensure facilities are clean, well maintained, aesthetically pleasing and safe and oversees building renovation projects for all Crystal Stairs operated properties and other office support projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Negotiate service agreements, select contractors and suppliers, provide quality-control oversight, implement cost-containment initiatives, measure compliance to contractual standards and provide liaison as needed between the Agency and third-party service providers.Negotiate renewals and prepare lease renewal addendum.Ensures high performance that results in the achievement of goals and objectives (e.g. quality, accuracy and timely).Ensures compliance of established standard procedures and practices for quality assurance.Identify, evaluate, and recommend new services and procedures.Develop, write, implement, update, and maintain standard operating procedures.Participate in intra-departmental projects as needed.Train staff in facilities and procurement related matters and regularly conduct presentations/updates.Empower staff by fostering an environment of shared ownership, collaboration, recognition, constructive feedback, and collaboration.Negotiate all lease terms in accordance with established leasing guidelines, working with management and the Agency's attorney when required.Draw up necessary leases, including all pertinent lease information obtained, and see that they are properly executed and distributed to appropriate parties.Keep informed of market conditions and competitive rental rates, performs market research as necessary.Develop RFPs (with defined scope of work) for construction and property remodel/renovation projects, office equipment and support services.Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

Head Start - Maintenance Worker

What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a Maintenance Worker to support our Head Start Program. This position is responsible for ensuring clean, safe, functional facilities by ensuring maintenance activities as well as repair activities are implemented including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, air conditioning/heating, landscaping, and grounds keeping when professional licensure is not required. The most qualified candidate will have the following responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes and assures routine maintenance of buildings, grounds and playground equipment during program breaks and more often, as requested.Completes and assures minor plumbing, painting, carpentry and electrical repairs or repair work in assigned facilities, where a professional license is not required.Assists and ensures routine maintenance is carried out such as replacing light bulbs, and maintaining equipment used in the course of work.Completes and ensures outdoor tasks such as sweeping steps, porches and drives, maintaining parking lot, mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and trees are carried out.Collects information; participates in planning and completes upgrading and minor repairs of facilities.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:
