Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support its engineering team during a 13-week contract assignment covering a full-time employee's medical leave. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with SolidWorks experience and a background in vehicle, heavy equipment, or sheet metal design to contribute to the development of innovative mechanical systems.
Schedule
Monday through Friday8:00 AM to 5:00 PMOne-hour lunch40 hours per weekKey ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical components for heavy-duty vehicle applications.Create and modify engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and bills of materials.Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design validation.Evaluate designs for performance, safety, manufacturability, and reliability.Support product development and production by troubleshooting engineering issues.Collaborate with senior engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and other cross-functional partners.Select appropriate materials and components to meet project requirements.Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations.Ensure compliance with engineering standards, drawing requirements, and company procedures.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.Internship experience or at least six months of related engineering experience.Proficiency with SolidWorks.Experience using AutoCAD or DraftSight.Knowledge of aluminum sheet metal and extrusion weldments.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.Experience designing automotive, commercial vehicle, or heavy equipment components.Experience working with high-level CAD systems.Experience designing custom modular aluminum bodies is a significant plus.Interview ProcessPhone interview with the Hiring ManagerIn-person panel interviewIf you're looking for a hands-on engineering opportunity where you can contribute immediately and work on mechanical designs for heavy-duty vehicle applications, we'd love to hear from you.
