Job Summary
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to our furry patients and supporting our dedicated veterinary team. You will be actively involved in various aspects of animal care, from assisting with medical procedures to providing compassionate support to pet owners. What you’ll do
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments.Provide excellent care for small animals (dogs and cats only) by performing tasks such as animal restraint, medication administration, and monitoring vital signs.Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.Engage with pet owners by answering questions, providing information on pet care, and assisting at the front desk.Handle laboratory samples and perform basic laboratory tests when necessary.Support animal husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.Document patient information accurately using veterinary terminology and maintain detailed records of treatments.
Basic qualifications
Experience in animal handling and care, with a strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy.Familiarity with aseptic techniques and animal catheterization procedures.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
Preferred qualifications
Previous experience as a veterinary assistant.Critical care experience is a plus.Proficiency in using veterinary terminology effectively in communication.Experience with ezyVet preferred.

Advise clientsAdmit patientsAdminister injectionsPerform venipuncture including placing IV cathetersTake vital signsProperly restrain animals for examination and treatmentReview vaccination records and prepare vaccinationsGive treatments/medications intravenously, orally and subcutaneouslyPrepare and file records and consent formsHandle telephone callsMaintain health certificate and rabies certificate filesGreet clientsDispense pet foods and suppliesUpdate client/patient files
