Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Utilize delegation and critical‑thinking skills to provide quality service through a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes for patients of all ages. Complete age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, document them, and use them to develop individualized plans of care. Collaborate with the healthcare team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an interdisciplinary plan of care, revising it as patient status changes. Accurately administer treatments and medications, documenting in the electronic medical records. Identify patient/family educational needs, incorporate them into care plans, and implement them appropriately. Contribute to Carilion Clinic’s performance‑improvement activities, acting as patient advocate and protector of patient rights. Exhibit clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances, planning strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, and resource consumption while improving outcomes. Function as a role model for clinical practice for coworkers, students, and physicians. Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify the environment to meet patient care needs. Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frames and guidelines. Use problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution of patient and personnel situations. Take an active role in orientation of new employees and provide feedback using appropriate communication and documentation. Provide input into practice, environment, and work issues by participating in unit, hospital, or system activities that facilitate staff participation in decision making. Assist in providing education activities for unit/department. Qualifications Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college or a graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. AHA BLS‑HCP required; may need BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP based on the specific work unit.
