The ideal candidate will be confident in reading fabrication drawings, performing dimensional inspections, and collaborating closely with fitters, welders, and shop foremen to identify and resolve quality issues before products advance to the next stage of production. This position is primarily shop-floor focused, with approximately 70% of work performed within the fabrication shop environment.

    Responsibilities

    Conduct in-process and final quality inspections on fabricated components. Verify dimensions, tolerances, fit-up, and assembly against engineering drawings and customer specifications. Perform dimensional inspections after parts are cut and tack welded, prior to welding. Carry out visual weld inspections in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015). Ensure fabrication activities adhere to welding procedures (WPS) and internal quality standards. Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments. Inspect paint quality, coating preparation, and calibration status of shop equipment and gauges. Coordinate with third-party inspectors for NDE and coating inspections, serving as the primary shop liaison. Communicate quality concerns directly with the Shop Foreman and production team to resolve discrepancies. Record inspection results and maintain quality documentation in compliance with company procedures. Assist with incoming material inspections as needed. Promote a safe, organized, and quality-focused work environment.

    Requirements

    Minimum of 2+ years of QA/QC inspection experience in a fabrication, welding, or manufacturing environment. Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints. Experience performing dimensional inspections and verifying tolerances. Proficient in using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. Working knowledge of welding processes such as FCAW and GMAW. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems. Understanding of welding procedures (WPS) and visual weld inspection practices. Effective communication skills with production personnel and shop leadership. High School Diploma or GED required.     Requirements

    5+ years of estimating experience in structural steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing environments. Proven experience estimating custom fabricated products from engineering drawings. Strong blueprint and fabrication drawing interpretation skills. Experience developing Bills of Material (BOMs). Understanding of fabrication processes including cutting, fitting, welding, machining, painting, and galvanizing. Experience calculating labor hours and production costs. Strong knowledge of material takeoffs and vendor sourcing. Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Strong organizational and leadership abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

    Preferred Qualifications
