The Lead Field Service Engineer - Drives operates with minimal supervision to perform a broad range of engineering tasks related to the installation, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting of variable speed drive systems. This role involves providing technical support for field operations and ensuring the reliable performance of drive systems across diverse industrial environments.
Conduct on-site troubleshooting of variable speed drive systems, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including commissioning and maintenance procedures, service logs, and reports.
Carry out installation and commissioning of drive systems at client locations, often under challenging field conditions.
Lead small technical teams during field assignments and serve as the on-site project lead.
Oversee on-site project coordination, ensuring customer satisfaction and technical compliance.
Support the execution of engineering tasks required for the technical integrity and proper commissioning of drive systems.
Deliver training and presentations to clients on drive system operation and maintenance.
Collaborate with internal teams (customer support, engineering, sales, parts, and service) to enhance customer experience.
Advise clients on recommended upgrades and service options to optimize system performance.
Plan and coordinate routine and emergency maintenance activities with customers.
Assist in the preparation and support of technical proposals and project bids.
Identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
Promote maintenance service offerings and identify sales opportunities during field engagements.
Provide responsive on-call support, ensuring timely issue resolution and accurate documentation.
Participate in marketing campaigns and initiatives supporting business development.
Perform other related duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.
Lead Field Service Engineer - Drives Position RequirementsMinimum 5 years of hands-on experience in field service or commissioning of industrial electrical equipment.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 85%), sometimes on short notice.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and organize workload to meet project timelines.
Comfortable working in marine environments including onboard vessels, in shipyards, or offshore.
Must be physically fit for vessel access and offshore assignments.
Must pass relevant offshore survival training (e.g., HUET).
Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Proficiency with specific drive systems and controllers, including but not limited to MV7000, SD7000, MV3000, PEC, PECe, CDC.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex technical assignments independently.
Strong PC skills and familiarity with MS Office Suite.
Experience in customer-facing roles within service or field engineering environments.
