ContiTech is seeking a skilled Automation Controls Technician to join our Maintenance team. In this role, you will support the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of automated control systems and industrial equipment that keep our operations running efficiently. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to support a wide range of maintenance and automation activities.
Please Note: This is a technician-level position focused on hands-on execution, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operational support. This role is not an engineering, design, product development, or process engineering position.
YOUR TASKS
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated control systems and related equipmentInstall, configure, and monitor control systems to support safe and efficient operationsTest and calibrate automation systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performanceDiagnose electrical and control system issues and implement effective solutionsProvide technical support for automation systems and collaborate with maintenance and production teamsSupport preventative maintenance activities to minimize downtime and improve system reliabilityTHE ENVIRONMENT:

High school diploma or equivalentTechnical training or certification in Industrial AutomationStrong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skillsExcellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detailAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExperience with PLC and HMI programming; knowledge of Rockwell Studio 5000 v37, CompactLogix, and SafetyLogix preferredExperience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems, including VFDs, contactors, relays, and control systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and use diagnostic tools such as multimetersSupport preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the facilityEnsure all work is completed in compliance with safety policies and proceduresMaintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S and safety expectationsCandidates with engineering backgrounds are welcome to apply if interested in a technician career path; however, compensation, scope, and advancement align with a technician position.

Job DescriptionThe Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment throughout the rubber manufacturing facility. This role ensures dependable, safe, and compliant operation of production machinery, power distribution systems, and plant infrastructure in accordance with electrical codes, Company policies, and work rules.
1. Complete all required training for the role.
2. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, including motors, drives, control panels,
HVAC components, lighting, and power distribution equipment up to 600V.
3. Diagnose electrical issues using meters, schematics, PLC interfaces, and testing instruments.
4. Repair or replace wiring, conduit, breakers, fuses, motor starters, relays, sensors, solenoids, and other electrical
components.
5. Maintain and troubleshoot electrical components on rubber mixing, extrusion, molding, and curing equipment.
6. Work with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and respond quickly to equipment
failures.
7. Assist with calibrations, adjustments, and electrical setup for machinery as required.
8. Troubleshoot PLC controlled systems and machine control circuits.
9. Assist with routine programming updates under supervision or per plant guidelines.
10. Maintain sensors, VFDs, HMIs, and automation components.
11. Follow all OSHA, NFPA 70E, and Company electrical safety standards.
12. Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and enforce safe work practices.
13. Ensure all electrical work meets national and local electrical codes.
14. Complete required documentation for maintenance logs, inspections, and work orders.
15. Install new electrical equipment, conduit, cable trays, and wiring systems.
16. Support capital projects and equipment upgrades.
17. Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other skilled trades.
18. May perform duties outside the scope of this description as assigned to support plant objectives.
19. Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsJourneyworker Electrician certification or equivalent recognized Union apprenticeship completion.
2. Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and machinery.
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
4. Experience working in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical tasks.
6. Willingness to work overtime, shift work, and respond to emergencies as needed.
7. Ability to use standard Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook.
8. Demonstrated communication skills.
9. Ability to submit to a panel interview process and complete a test. Preferred

11. Familiarity with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
