Responsibilities: Report to the Project Director. Recruit and help enroll adults and high school seniors into a postsecondary education program. Prepare and facilitate group presentations and individual counseling sessions related to higher education access, financial aid, admissions processes, scholarship search, career decision making, and financial literacy. Provide ongoing orientation for adult education programs, higher education and community agency personnel serving low-income, underrepresented adults and high school students. Plan and implement aggressive outreach efforts to identify and recruit eligible participants interested in higher education, postsecondary placement, financial aid and admissions processes, scholarship search, making realistic career decisions, and financial literacy. Prepare weekly and monthly reports of outreach activities. Travel within assigned service area to provide counseling to participants on an individual or group basis. Provide virtual and online counsel and workshops as needed during the current COVID-19 pandemic. In-office, in-person, and on site work is required. Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated knowledge of the college financial aid and admissions processes. Establish and maintain referral relationships with state agencies, secondary and higher education institutions, and community-based organizations. Understand the socio-economic and academic needs of the low-income first generation college ready students served through TRIO Educational Opportunity Center projects. Good oral and written communication and administrative skills. Must have independent and reliable transportation. Bi-lingual and underrepresented candidates are encouraged to apply.
