The Opportunity
This is not a transactional sales role. We don’t sell catalog products at Concept Systems. Every project is engineered around the customer’s process requiring curiosity, technical thinking, and close collaboration with our engineering team. As a Sales Engineer at Concept Systems, you’re the strategic link between what our customers need and what our team can build. You’ll engage with plant managers, operations leaders, and engineers to uncover their challenges, then work alongside our technical team to shape the right automation solution. You’ll have the credibility of someone who understands the technology and the communication skills to make complex solutions feel approachable.
If you’re energized by building real relationships, solving meaningful problems, and being part of a company that’s genuinely on the rise, then this role was written for you.
What You’ll Do
Own the Sales Cycle
• Manage the full lifecycle of each opportunity from initial prospect conversations through proposal, negotiation, and signed contract
• Develop and execute territory and account plans that hit annual revenue targets
• Maintain an accurate, up-to-date pipeline in CRM and keep the team informed on where deals stand
Be a Trusted Advisor to Customers
• Listen carefully to customer challenges and business goals, then co-develop automation solutions that genuinely move the needle
• Present and articulate our solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences, from engineers on the shop floor to C-suite decision makers
• Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, building long-term relationships grounded in trust and results
• Respond quickly and thoughtfully when customers need support before, during, and after a project
Collaborate Internally
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams to develop compelling, technically sound proposals
• Communicate clearly across departments, as you will be the bridge between what the customer needs and what our team delivers
• Stay engaged during project execution to deepen customer relationships and surface new opportunities
• Attend trade shows, industry conferences, and customer events to build Concept Systems’ presence in the market
Grow with Us
• Stay current on automation technology, industry trends, and competitive landscape
• Participate in ongoing technical and sales training
• Contribute to process improvement because if something could work better, we want to hear it
What We’re Looking For
• A track record of building customer relationships and winning business in a technical or solutions-based sales environment
• A background in or strong familiarity with electrical control systems, PLCs, robotics, or manufacturing automation, or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial or semi-technical environments. We’ve seen great Sales Engineers come from production management, operations, skilled trades, and millwright backgrounds just as much as traditional sales.
• Strong communication skills, being comfortable presenting to a room, negotiating a contract, and sending a clear email, all in the same day
• Self-starter mentality: you manage your own time, stay organized, and don’t need someone looking over your shoulder
• Contract negotiation experience is a plus
• A valid driver’s license and comfort with travel up to 30% of the time, as this job cannot be done entirely from behind a desk. You’ll be on customer sites occasionally, which means walking active production floors and getting a feel for how their operations actually run. If you’re equally at home in a conference room and on a factory floor, you’ll thrive here.
