What You'll Do
Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous metal in alignment with market conditions and company standardsIdentify and secure material from industrial accounts, dealers, demolition projects, contractors, repair shops, and retail customersVisit existing and prospective customers to strengthen relationships and uncover new opportunitiesActively pursue and qualify new material suppliersMaintain accurate records of buying activities, prospecting efforts, sales, and follow-up actionsDeliver responsive internal and external service for ferrous and non-ferrous operationsProcess inquiries, account setups, vendor setups, and pricing updates in SAP and Scrap DragonPartner with traders and operations teams to manage inventory and cost dataCoordinate forecasts and buying strategies to optimize sales, margins, and inventory turnoverWhat You'll Need
3-5 years of outside sales experienceExperience in ferrous and non-ferrous (NF) buying preferredStrong interpersonal skills requiredAbility to work independently while demonstrating a strong sense of teamworkExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office is required. What You'll DoAccurately complete corresponding delivery paperwork and work with production, sales and customers to communicate issues with loads and delivery timeMaintain electronic or paper logs of working hoursWork well with team members or independently; give and receive feedback in a constructive mannerUse of Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) during operation of vehicle; driver will be trained accordinglySet up a sideboard kit around the perimeter of the trailer floorPerforms daily Pre-Trip, Inter-Trip, and Post Trip Inspections.Responsible for the delivery of products to customers, contractors, and jobsites throughout the location geographic regionEnsure vehicle is properly loaded and load secured and product is delivered safely and timelyInventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.Loading truck may require: securing chains across the width of a trailer to secure the product, both on the bed of a trailer and in an overhead rack, tarping of loads on trailers, and dropping and hooking a trailerWork safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPEPerform additional duties as neededWhat You'll NeedAbility to pass a company road testValid Class A Commercial Driver License requiredDriver must be knowledgeable in D.O.T. Regulations/RequirementsPass required D.O.T. and CMC Logistics drug testing programs and physicals as required by D.O.T.No violation for speeding excessively, 15 mph or more above the posted speed limit in previous 3 yearsNo on-road preventable accidents during the past (3) years as shown on the Motor Vehicle Road (MVR); accidents are reviewed by CMC LogisticsNo more than 1 moving violation in the previous 3 yearsAbility to inspect vehicle(s) for any safety or operational defects using DOT, maintenance, and safety checklists and ensuring emergency equipment is in proper working orderMinimum 1 year verifiable tractor/trailer experience requiredMust be able to lift up to 65 lbsMust be able to work a flexible schedule Monday through Friday; which may include some overtimeMust be at least 21 years of ageMust be willing to learn and tackle new challengesNo DUI or DWI (within the last 5 years)No violation for careless, negligent or reckless operation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle in previous 3 yearsYour EducationHigh School Diploma or GED preferredWe are CMC, a Fortune 500 company at the leading edge of our industry.
