    Columbia Eye Associates is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician / Medical Assistant to join our team in Columbia, MD.

    We are open to hiring either an experienced technician or the right person with a strong work ethic, great people skills, and the ability to learn quickly. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with patients, staying busy, and being part of a supportive team.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Prepare patients for the doctor

    • Collect patient history and update records accurately

    • Perform pre-testing and other basic diagnostic testing • Assist with patient flow throughout the day

    • Support both clinical and front office needs as needed

    • Help create a warm, professional, and efficient patient experience

    Qualifications:

    • Friendly, professional, and dependable

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Good attention to detail

    • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment

    • Reliable attendance and punctuality

    • Experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or a medical office is preferred, but not required for the right candidate

    Training:

    We are willing to train the right candidate who is motivated, learns quickly, and is ready to be an active part of the team.

    Schedule:

    Full-time hours. Monday through Friday. Daytime schedule only.

    Compensation:

    Pay based on experience.

    What You’ll Do

    Guide patients in selecting frames and lenses that fit their lifestyle, prescription, and budgetEducate patients on lens technology, coatings, and eyewear optionsVerify and explain vision insurance benefitsTake accurate measurements and fit eyewear properlyAdjust, repair, and troubleshoot glassesProcess and track eyewear ordersAssist with frame inventory and merchandisingFollow established office procedures and maintain accurate documentationWork closely with doctors and team members to ensure a seamless patient experience

    Qualifications

    Previous optical experience preferredABO certification is a plus, but not requiredStrong customer service and communication skillsDetail-oriented and organizedComfortable learning new systems and technologyAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentReliable attendance and punctualityPositive attitude and willingness to support the team
