All licensed child care centers and preschools in Colorado must have monthly visits from a Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC), a nurse who supports programs in meeting and surpassing health and safety standards. The School Nurse Child Care Health Consultant plays a critical role in advancing the health, safety, and wellness of children in early childhood settings, school-age programs, licensed camps, and family child care. This individual delivers onsite consultations, health policy guidance, training, and medication delegation to ensure compliance and promote safe environments.
Responsibilities
Conduct regularly scheduled onsite monthly visits to early childhood and school-age programsProvide health consultation to support program policies on health, safety, and illness preventionFacilitate medication delegation, enabling trained staff to safely administer medications and health proceduresDeliver health and safety trainings to child care staff focused on infectious disease management and wellnessSupport emergency preparedness planning within child care settingsAdvise on infant safe sleep practices and injury prevention strategiesShare relevant community health resources and promote child wellness
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.Registered Nurse (RN) license
