Code Ninjas Arlington is part of the nation’s fastest-growing kids’ coding franchise, serving families across Arlington and nearby Northern Virginia communities. We teach kids ages 5–14 how to code in a fun, safe, and non-intimidating environment by building video games and creative projects they love.

About the Role
Senseis are the heart of our dojo. As a Sensei at Code Ninjas Arlington, you will coach, mentor, and inspire young Ninjas while creating an engaging and structured learning environment. You do not need to be a professional software engineer—what matters most is your ability to work with kids, learn our curriculum, and bring positive energy every day.
This is an ideal role for:
College students (CS, Engineering, Education, STEM, or related fields)Aspiring educators or youth mentorsIndividuals who enjoy technology, games, and working with children
Key Responsibilities
Learn and deliver the Code Ninjas curriculum through provided trainingCoach students individually and in small groups based on skill levelCreate a safe, positive, and high-energy learning environmentEncourage problem-solving, persistence, and teamworkCommunicate student progress and feedback to parents, especially during toursSupport opening and closing procedures as scheduledMaintain dojo cleanliness and organization to corporate standardsCollaborate with fellow Senseis and report regularly to Center LeadershipAssist with special events, birthday parties, camps, and community outreach as needed
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
Experience working with children ages 5–14 (tutoring, mentoring, coaching, teaching, childcare, camps, etc.)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsReliable, punctual, and professionalAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentWillingness to learn new technology and teaching methodsMust pass a background check
Preferred (but not required):
Experience with coding, STEM, robotics, or game designFamiliarity with Scratch, JavaScript, Python, Lua, or similar languagesExperience teaching, mentoring, or leading small groupsCustomer service or parent-facing experience
Schedule & Availability
After-school hours: Typically weekday afternoons and early eveningsWeekend shifts: Saturday daytime availability preferredSeasonal opportunities: Expanded hours during summer camps, school breaks, and special programsFlexible scheduling ideal for students or part-time professionals
