    A caregiver who excels in this role will:   Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.   Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.   Implement and monitor patient care plans.   Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.   Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications and treatments, and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.   Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.   
    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Associate's degree Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.  Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.  Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure.  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA).  
    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Minimum 1 year experience in critical care.  Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification.  Skills: active listening, collaboration, adaptability, critical thinking, accountability, independent working and receptive to feedback.

    The Medical Intensive Care Units (MICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus are designed to treat high acuity patients who need critical care and suffer from various medical problems. The G62 Unit includes 18 patient beds. Some of the most common procedures performed by our nursing staff include bronchoscopy, endoscopy, emergent intubations, and central line placements. Our dedicated and highly trained nursing caregivers follow an intricate nursing care model that is rooted in evidence-based practice and always puts patients first.  
     A caregiver in this position works Day/Evening/Night/Weekend, 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.  
    A caregiver who excels in this role will:  Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.  Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.  Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).  Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.  Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.  Document in patients’ medical records.

    Hillcrest Hospital’s 5th Floor General Medicine/Geriatric Medicine Unit provides medical, neurological, and telemetry care for adult and geriatric patients. This unit’s clinical specialties include cardiac/post-catheterization, genitourinary, thoracic, vascular, renal, gastrointestinal, diabetes, respiratory disease, ostomy, and wound management. As a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, you will participate in a year-long residency program, customized to fit you, your needs and your pace, where you will provide direct nursing care, be paired with a coach that guides you toward success, develop clinical judgement, cultivate excellent communication skills and acquire complex nursing skills.
